Was I Right Or Was I Right?

National titles against the top 4-5 is a y’all hill to climb, but we have everything we need to be a consistent, fun top 10-15 team every year right now.

Everything except a competent football operation that is.

It never bothered me when we lost to Clemson since 2015 except for the WAY we lose to them.

Where would we be with Freeze, Butch , or Mullen? Maybe not beating Bama or Clemson but we wouldn’t be getting blitzed for 60 by Mack Brown.
Mullen would of did well here hes good at OL DL and QB

I like the offensive guru approach, but I always worry about defense with those guys.

We need a LEADER more than anything. Give us a strong leader with a track record of hiring good coaches and we will be a consistent top 10 team.

It can’t be just any guy and based strictly on wins and losses. We need a guy with the right personality and to judge his results through a proper context.

He needs alpha body language and solid football knowledge. A leader with a good coaching budget would work wonders here.

Look what Richt did on the downside of his career. We can get a strong coach if that’s what the administration really wanted.

That’s why you put competent people in a room with him and help him choose a proven and seasoned DC.

We could have just as easily been 5-5. We are not a good team. I have always said the W/L record doesn't tell the whole story. How are we winning? How are we losing? 8-2 means nothing when your two most impressive wins are against two teams having their worst seasons in a while, and your two losses are beat downs. No Miami fan will be happy with these performances moving forward.

And spare me the class coming in. There's a reason all of our decent players are from the portal. At least they got some decent coaching before they got here.
You think I'm not aware of that? The class is because of covid because families are pressing kids to stay home & because we can give them a platform to make money at now. This year I hate to say is the perfect storm for a good class because of those two reasons. Far as the team in itself goes your preaching to the choir. We have a intramural squad staph & a scheme designed for big 12 football. The win loss record rarely tells the story of the team especially when we have played very few quality opponents.

Bolden hadn’t played in almost two years and Phillips was a physically gifted but scrawny medically retired gamble.

Also, home grown Zion played as well as Williams.
Bubba is obviously true. But jaelan was nowhere near scrawny from day #1. Was he anywhere near the shape he's in now. No definitely not. But it wasn't some genius move that required much at all. Majority of these transfers reach out to us. Doesn't take much when the kid goes out his own way to let his interest be known. Zion has definitely made progress but he's still average at best.

We tried that approach last year and him and blake actively pushed accountability and competency away from him and the program. That's reality folks. Why go through all this just for smoke and mirrors.

In this scenario James is gone. He shouldn’t be allowed to make another decision for the University ever again

The NFL has AL Golden and probably a couple of others I have forgotten.
He is something like the assistant to the assistant tight end coach. The last ones that reasonably made a prestigious jump were Barrow, Brennan Carroll, and Jeff Fisch. That was almost a decade ago.

My comment was somewhat tongue and cheek but to think Miami has just got incredibly unlucky with coaching hires is ridiculous. Good coaches get fired every year. Not saying Manny or Miami's coaching staff is good just saying. The offensive coaching staff is well put together and very accomplished on the collegiate level. Doesn't excuse their epic failure in the Clemson and UNC games either. The defensive staff is hand picked by the HC and has now gotten worse over the 2yrs he has been head coach. I don't care how close they are and how long they have been working together, the historic collapse defensively means its time for change.

To the extent you are able to answer this, if you have spoken to him, what is ER saying or thinking or communicating to Mandy at this point? I get he doesn’t have the authority Alonzo would have had and is an adviser/figurehead, but at the end of the day, his name is still attached to this now. I can’t imagine he is biting his tongue or pleased with what he saw.

Well, I think you can minimize risk but there is always an element of luck to it. That said, we didn’t even put ourselves into the position where luck would matter.

As to the second part, diversity in the workplace is obviously a bigger buzz word in 2020. And I think it has come to mean something, no pun intended, surface level. Really what the goal of diversity is, is to get different viewpoints and backgrounds to tackle a problem. If your team looks different, but they all grew up in the same place and went to the same school, then it is kind of worthless. That is largely our defensive staff - they all went to the same school and training program, and therefore, only have one way and viewpoint of looking at a problem. Plus, they aren’t very good at it in the first place.

Fvck no it's not. That just means he's gonna take kids who have tons of potential and ruin their lives within 2 or 3 years tops. You have to develop the kids you sign. You have to coach kids up and have a clue of what you're doing. Recruiting is certainly necessary. But you gotta back that up with more than the talent they leave high school with. It's crazy people don't get this. Everyone thinks we missing on 90% of our classes. NO WE ARE NOT!!! It's we have coaches that don't know **** they talking about or how to suceed on this field.

This is a ridiculous contention. Phillips was a top 5 HS player in the country. He had to sit out a full year before coming here. Of course a kid whose been on the sidelines loses bulk. But he wasn't a scrawny kid. He was a top prospect who took 2 years here to rebuild his body.

Y'all gotta stop. He's not getting fired... Just cut it out. He could have ten years like this and all he'll do is get extension after extension. This cracks me up. The vast majority of y'all are going wild saying we're 8-2 and have a great class coming in than put up some dumb *** scarface gif talking bout manila... Obviously some of us bright enough to understand reality. I think u fall in that category z. So just give up that dream for what it is. Buddy ain't goin nowhere no time soon.
What will it take? Paul needs to get in control asap....
