Wait, what?

Jameis rapes a girl (allegedly) and plays to win the Heisman and National Championship. AQM beats up a roommate (allegedly) and he can't play because roleplaying student government might tag him with a violation of the code of conduct?

Oh well, we've got standards, some others don't. Those who prefer to cater to the lowest common denominator can just follow another team.

Yeah, well, you see AQM is a STUDENT and is part of the UNIVERSITY. The football program is not a separate entity, and if there were infractions as a STUDENT, then the student council discipline board or whatever method they use applies. If people want professional sports and players that aren't bound by university rules, then stop following college ball and go pick your favorite NFL team to root for.

Is Al on the student council because Al has said a couple times publicly that it's his decision not to play AQM?

It appears there must be some repercussion to playing him if the outcome of the student council or other university action turns out a particular way.

SOunds to me like someone needs to visit council members in the middle of the night to make sure they aren't taking themselves a little too seriously.

No, they have a job to do, and they should do it right. Football player or chess club nerd, the rules for students should apply equally.

They are well prepared for their future public servant jobs if it is going to take them three weeks to make a decision. I'm sure the chess club would take a Knight to ******* 7 to get their top player back.

Since when are they a vehicle to replace actual law enforcement? I could see if this happened to be a case of academic fraud or something along the lines of violating a UM code of conduct in relation to something that may not be criminally punishable. But all reports so far have pointed toward the direction of the roommate claiming an assault. That's not something for some council to play mock trial with if the real authorities were never (or chose not to be) involved.

It's a goddamned shame that some nerds sitting in on some tin pot student council can have this much control over a football player's career.

LMAO.

The whiners will complain that Golden won't play him.

The whiners would complain if Golden played him now and he lost a year of eligibility if (when?) he took a suspension from the university.

Comical.

Here they are reviewing the "evidence" right now.
