Seriously? That’s where you’re moving the goalpost to? Lol.
Of course Vinny was the better QB. But if you don’t think Stevenson and JJ wouldn’t have had Torretta to play and beat PSU with a full month to prepare, then you don’t really know Miami football as well as you think you do. Torretta was a Senior with many years in that system, with plenty of experience going up against the first team defense, so penn state wouldn’t scare him. That defense was the best defense in CFB history up to that point
Lastly, you declared “Toretta couldn’t beat any team on any night”? YOU wrote that and not anyone else, so own the mistake. History proves you wrong and I provided facts to show it, so you’ll just have to forgive me if I don’t take your opinion seriously at the moment.
Stop this madness.
Where are the "facts" you "provided" to show that Geoff Torretta would have beaten Ped State?
Torretta was a "senior with many years in that system"? What a clown comment. Geoff Torretta started his career at CAL. Then he went to Diablo Valley Community College. Geoff Torretta only spent TWO YEARS at Miami, and he barely ever played.
In Geoff's first year at UM, he threw the ball SIXTEEN times.
In Geoff's final year at UM, he threw the ball FIFTY-NINE times, and 30 of those passes were in his ONE start against East Carolina. That means that for the OTHER TEN GAMES, when Vinnie Testaverde was beating up on other teams and there should have been plenty of playing time for the backup, Torretta got to throw the ball 29 times in those 10 games.
"Plenty of experience going up against the first team defense"? Again, only TWO YEARS at Miami, and back then, the #1 offense went against the #1 defense in practice. So, yeah, almost NO EXPERIENCE going up against the first team defense.
Oh, except for those magical 45 days, when "Coach Stevenson" (and I can only assume you are talking about Gary STEVENS) and JJ (a defensive side coach) would have transformed Geoff Torretta, what with his 2 years of backup work and 75 passing attempts, into the greatest QB of all time.
Look, you don't even know who Gary Stevens is, you don't realize that Geoff Torretta was a JuCo transfer to Miami, and yet you are trying to convince us that you just KNOW that Torretta would have won the game.
****, I'll give you a candy bar if you could even produce the name of Geoff's girlfriend at UM (I'll even spot you her initials, which are D.J.). Also, tell me what she was known for at UM (besides dating Geoff, of course).
