Vag Tech had 12 sacks on the season

Did you not see this line against FAU? LOL Everyone eats against this line.

Why is it worse than last year with the same guys?

We sucked last year

True but that was with a coach fired during the season. What about this year?

Wasn't the purpose of bringing in a new staff to not suck even more than we did last year? It worked on the defensive side until we were completely decimated by injuries there. It's been a total failure on offense.

Yes, we have a horrible offensive line. Yes, Brad Kaaya is a statue and needs to get rid of the ball quicker. But our play calling also has to help both Brad and the line out. Quick passes and slants. There was one blitz where the middle of the field was WIDE open. If we have a quick slant or crossing pattern there, one would hope Brad could get it to that player pretty quickly.

kaaya may be the most unathletic division 1 player I've ever seen, he looks like Peyton Manning his last year, when he would just throw himself on the ground

Franchise, you are 100% correct on this. Our talent isn't that bad on the o-line. And you saw it yesterday. They would line up and run block beautifully on one lay, and our back would be 10 yards down the field. The next play the RB goes down for a 5 yard loss. Or we would pick up the blitz giving Kaaya an eternity to throw, followed by a ply where they rush 4 and a guy gets through untouched. They aren't getting whooped on each and every play. They are just terribly inconsistent. Only Linder is earning his oats on a regular basis. And Searls certainly isn't. **** we have the same line as last year, and they have regressed. And I'm not sure everybody has Richt's offense down either which is all on Richt.

these players went 6-7 with duke johnson having 2,043 yards from scrimmage. let that sink in for a second.

He's the same athlete he was last year when he was sacked 19 times over 13 games behind the same OL. This year, he's been sacked 15 times in half the amount of games.

Only four of our starters were even Sophomores when they went 6-7. Only a handful of them even played significant minutes on that team.

Richt is trying acclimate and to run an entirely new program and learn how to call plays again.

He has way too much on his plate with very little help.

His son as QB coach is worthless. Thomas Brown is a great position coach but totally green when it comes to installing game plan.

From a game preparation standpoint, the offense is a disaster right now.

Not to mention a terrible OL and QB who has no desire to lead, win or take a hit.

It's sad.

You guys want to see a well-oiled offense that schemes up the running game beautifully with pedestrian offensive talent? Watch Pitt. If we had their OC we'd be undefeated or have one loss tops.

Watch how he's always got guys in motion and freezes defenses with slight of hand and constant misdirection. It's like a symphony while our offense looks like a guy banging on a bucket with a twig.

Before today's game. They were 83rd in the country. 5 of their 12 sacks were from Ekanem, who didn't play tonight.

They had 8 or 9 sacks tonight.

Is our OL talent THAT MUCH worse than every team VT faced before us? I don't think they're a great OL. But I refuse to accept that they're THAT MUCH worse than all the teams VT faced before us this year.

They had 7 sacks from the guys who played against us coming into tonight's game. Once again, in the 6 games before facing us, the VT defenders who played against us tonight had 7 sacks. They surpassed that total on the season in 1 game against us.

I don't know if it's Searels or if it's faulty play designs and faulty blocking schemes, but you'll never convince me the raw material on our OL is THAT MUCH worse than all the teams VT played before us.

Coming into the game, the oline was 19th in the country in sacks allowed at 1.17 per game. I saw Kaaya sack himself 4-5 times easily.
Under pressure Kaaya was 2 for 8 for 40 yards, 1 int, 0 tds, and 8 sacks. So 16 times he was under pressure and he completed 2 passes during those plays. He was sacked 50% of those plays.

I've asked the same question about the team in general the last 10 years. Is "team x" that much better than athlete wise than Miami.

Syracuse just handled VT last weekend. Do they have that much better athletes?

How do we have the worst offensive line in the country?

They have a QB who can move. O-lines in college are not good enough to have statues back there like the NFL.

This guy gets it.

This too.

If our line is so bad and Kaaya sacks himself, why not game plan around that? Where are the short hitch routes, crossing patterns, quick toss plays, etc...?

Why is Richrt setting Kaaya up to fail?

So he can recruit a better QB or replace BK with open competition next spring without taking the P R hit?????? Richt has a system that worked quite well with mediocre QBs at Georgia. Why should he change the system for an incumbent inferior QB?

People keep saying "Kaaya sacks himself". While I agree that he is not very mobile and that is a contributing factor, it's not the root cause of the sacks. On most of the plays where he was sacked, he had a DT or blitzer running free up the middle towards him, and a DE coming at him virtually unblocked from around the end. Short of running backwards, it's not like he had a lot of options. It's also clear that the kid's confidence is shot from taking so many hits the last few weeks.
