So, Georgia has 130 on roster? That includes maybe 45 walk-ons? Walk-ons are most likely to be from instate because of tuition which walk-ons have to pay out-of-pocket.Georgia's roster has 88 kids from Georgia and 42 kids from other states right now. But you're trying to make the point that Georgia talent isn't going to Georgia? You're not an investigative reporter, apparently.
That is bad math.Urban talked about UGA, USC, etc. being better jobs because of their in state talent. If the talent isn't going to UGA, then his point does not make much sense. I know Georgia has good football players. But UGA offers more Florida players than Georgia players because Florida has more talent than any other state. Georgia gave out 64 Florida offers compared to 31 Georgia offers this cycle
Help me understand what point you’re making here, and how it is responsive to his comments.
They have the dudes (and budget) to coach them though. If we’re not willing to spend on a quality staff then we’ll never be able to develop properly."The Florida kids are really raw and tough to win with."
*Cut to this scene but it's Dabo, Saban, Kirby, Urban, Oregeron and all college coaches fighting to be the first in Dade and Broward every recruiting cycle.*

You could tell Meyer wanted more advanced kids when Ohio State started recruiting Bishop Gorman heavily. That is probably the most advanced high school program in the country. The Buckeyes got the jump. Ohio State stuck their receivers coach and ace recruiter on the Bishop Gorman beat. I doubt it's much of a coincidence that our best true freshman recently was from Bishop Gorman
Las Vegas is not fixated on national titles. That is one huge difference between when I talked sports there as opposed to online forums or fan conversation in general elsewhere. I guess the people who operate out of that city see thousands of games per year in all sports combined, so there is greater understanding of the random nature.
Man you are difficult to discuss UM football with because you force everything through your narrative filter. He didn’t even say all you project on him. And there is nothing inconsistent about Florida BOTH producing great players and those players being relatively poorly coached in HS.It’s pretty simple. Florida teams have won 11 titles in the past 36 years, including titles in each of the last four decades. No other state is close. There is a reason. Florida produces the best players.
Meyer’s comment suggests it is hard to win with Florida players because they are less developed. Every piece of evidence over the past four decades says otherwise, including two of the titles on Urban’s resume.
Nobody disputes Florida high school coaches are less skilled/paid than their counterparts. We are talking about players. The players that NFL execs get paid a lot of money to draft every year.

Best or not best is a function of how you define it. LA and AL do just fine on a per capita basis.
The real challenge is what Texas highlights. Texas produces plenty of talent, and they have great facilities. So why don’t they win? Probably two things, in addition to general coaching. Culture, and math. They have their pick of too big a pool too early on, and as a result have never prioritized or gotten good at evaluations. And relatedly, their culture isn’t conducive to winning and they have never been able to fix it. They take the best TX kids as rising juniors. Too early. Too entitled. No bueno.
It’s evals and culture at UM, too. I have been yelling at the sky about evals since Coker. But Meyer has a point on skill and culture. You guys all take a few comments and try to turn it into a your view vs his view debate. Nothing he said should be remotely surprising. We have evaluated very poorly for a long while. Our program was built (and rebuilt) by guys whose eval skills were unparalleled. You consistently say you think it’s easy to win at Miami if a coach is just okay. And so you are consistently surprised by our dismal results.
Meanwhile, the world ain’t waiting for us to get our act together. And life ain’t fair. Alabama’s support resources dwarf ours. You don’t think that matters?
Given D$’s focus on coaching (and yes, our coaching has been terrible), youd think he would agree with meyer. If local kids are relatively less coached up before getting here, then bad coaching at UM would be a real isse. And it has been!is it really hard to understand that he’s not saying that the players down here aren’t talented. He’s saying they are normally more raw, and need more time to develop and coached up compared to some other areas. Not one time did he say that south Florida isn’t Uber talented. Yes it’s a handful of players every year that walk on the field and are ready to play from day 1. But most kids need to be developed and we have sucked at that.
Jimmy J and Pete C are two of the best coaches in their generation. If we are waiting for them to come around again, it gone be a while.Meyer is FOS. Miami, FSU and UF are keeping less players in state. Especially the ELITE top 15-20 players. That has been the main issue. There’s a report out on this. More elite FL players overall are heading out of state. That’s the issue.
Why? Because the product has sucked. If all three schools were playing elite ball, the players would stay, and the “job” would ultimately be as appealing as ever due to the wins.
IF Pete Carrol were to step foot in Coral Gables today, hire a staff like he did initially at USC, he would CRUSH the world. The product would drive demand.
The job hasn’t changed. Our coaches just haven’t been as good as Jimmy J or Pete Carrol. When Pete was at USC, he was crushing the SEC. The only thing that has changed is the coaching.
False narrative. This isn't 1998 anymore. The top teams aren't spending all that much time in south Florida.

Could you please change your custom title beneath your username to, "Little, Yellow, Different"Correct, I didn’t want to get into all that lol. It’s not the first time he’s left either. He left to coach Valdosta back in the early 2000’s as well. It’s funny they are in the championship game this year tho...
