Upon Further Review: Miami vs. Notre Dame

I know they said he missed time in camp, really hope Lofton can improve over the next few games. I think Gilbert would be a beast in those situations based on his HS film. How is Ruskovich as a blocker?

Apparently a ND player was holding one of the UM players down and the refs did nothing per usual.
Signs are quickly pointing towards Lofton being a non-factor as a Cane.

True on holding player down, but we wasted a timeout, on a punt, because we didn't have the numbers on the field. Lofton will be fine, according to news folks, he is the best football player on the team.

Moten looked really good from what I saw live in the first half. I think he tired out. We need more than a 3 man rotation for 2 trench positions that require all out effort on every snap.

Scott and Thomas may have made a couple mistakes. But thank god for those two transfers. We really dodged a bullet at S by landing them. Poyser definitely a cause for concern. Gotta bring along Fitzgerald quickly.

I honestly expected Toure to play better. And Chase missing his assignment bums me out. Need our LBs to start playing to the level of our DL And CBs.
frustrating we hear good things about Wiley, and Pruitt, and puff, both are no shows.

From a penalty perspective, we played a very clean game and the referees still found a way to involve themselves-- phantom calls, no-calls, etc. There is literally nothing else we can do.

It's pure insanity that the ACC allows this to go on. It's a crap conference, full of crappy teams and uninteresting programs in markets no one GAF about. We are one of three teams anyone will pay attention to nationally, and they try and steal games from us in prime time.

Until we get out of this place to a conference who actually wants us this will always be the case. GTFO of the ACC already.

He isn't a block-first TE. If ever there was a game to use him in, this was it. We didn't want to go downfield against their secondary late in the game, but how about a bootleg to the TE?

He was hurt in camp. I don’t know if that’s why he blocked poorly on Sunday. We have a lot of film of him lead blocking last year and blowing people up so that would be my assumption, but I don’t know that for sure.

We need to get him and Trader rolling now that they are healthier.
Yeah, I’m not throwing the kid out. Hopefully he can be an excellent player.

I just think the hype he’s been given is borderline doing the kid a disservice.

And injury or not, he shouldn’t have been put in those run schemes after the first quarter. It was terrible and he was overmatched.

“Really questionable clock management by Mario turns into gold as they get the TD with only a few seconds remaining in the half and get the ball first in the 2H.”

Hasn’t been discussed on here much as everyone’s been discussing Mario’s decision(s) end game. But we almost blundered the final drive away in the 1H. Why is this minor stuff so friggen hard?
Miami lost about 10 seconds because the DT was laying on Cooper and wouldn't let him up. So Miami ended up using final time out but lost about 10 seconds before calling it because they didn't know a player wouldn't be allowed up. Should have been a penalty allowing clock to stop and then Miami would have had a time out still and the time wouldn't seem as bad.

You're right, there was an issue there I didn't mention. Didn't have a clear enough view to say whether it was a penalty or not.

#27 owned him several times. Pushed thru him and still made a tackle.
#27 will get drafted though. Played as a freshman on the regular in an elite defense last season and flashed vs multiple times with good physicality and tackling.

That's no slouch.

Hey @Lance Roffers , great stuff as always. Just curious on the Toney TD - ever see a QB do what Beck does with the ball right before the throw? He flips the ball around in his hands 3 times including once RIGHT before throwing it. I get it if he does it right after receiving the snap, but he proceeds to do it 2 other times. Not sure if this is a Beck tick or what but never seen that before.

Yeah, I mentioned it in the write-up. Never seen that before. Not sure if he didn't have a grip or it's a nervous tick or what that was.

I was looking for that comment, figuring you would point it out but didn't see it! Guess I skimmed through too fast! Anyway, hope it's not a nervous tick - that might lead to some problems. Thanks.
