Everyone one of those guys could be potential starters. That's 5 starters. Pretty significant if you ask me.

And you're ****ting on a 2016 team that went 9-4 and would've done better had Richt not taken the month of October off delegating the play calling duties to Ask Madden. That offense was stacked and Manny showed how good our defense was. We definitely underachieved that season.

Yeah "potential". If Bolden starts over Amari, it's not a "major" hole he's filling. If Hill starts over Patchan/Rosseau, it's not a "major" hole. If Osborn starts over Hightower, it's not a "major" hole. If Chigozie starts over Bethel it's not a "major" hole. They're providing depth/competition, which is important.

If Bolden keeps Knowles off the field, the portal did more for this team than any incoming player has ever done for any team in the history of sports.

Lol true, the depth was lacking there I'm glad we have him, hopefully he'll be ready for 8/24

WR would definitely be a "major" hole without JK. Who is currently our 3rd best WR? Pope? Hightower? Wiggins? None of those guys are remotely proven. Not to mention there is unfortunately a decent chance that JT doesn't finish the season with the team, based on his history of quitting on teams (IIRC, last year was the 3rd time he's done so, going back to his HS days).

He's also been very good at ST throughout his career, and by all accounts has provided great leadership, in what is otherwise a very immature position group. He's as important an addition as we had this off-season.

KJ isn't proven either. Hightower at least looked decent against LSU last year. I'm looking forward to seeing what KJ can do, but I have a ton of faith in Hightower being a big-time receiver for us.

Hightower had ONE catch against LSU. lol.

He had 4 catches all year. Talented but unproven WRs are a dime-a-dozen, especially at Miami.

But we are in the "Greentree All-American" time of the year, so I'm sure he, and Pope, and Mallory, and Lingard, and Harris, and Payton, and all the other talented guys will fulfill their potential this year.

Reality just doesn't work like that. Some of those guys will be good, some will be solid, some will be busts. Replacing uncertainty with a proven player is always a good thing.

I must've missed the memo that all those guys are sure things.

You're like the tons of Tate groupies on here betting big on an unknown quantity. You have no idea if those guys can be depended on for an entire season or are even Miami starting quality at all and yet you're saying you would have had no problem not having a plan B at 4 crucial positions on the field... including the QB position. Good for you.

Yeah ask Tommy Kennedy. KJ is no more than a Greentree All American himself. We have absolutely no idea how these Buffalo guys will translate into Power 5 opponents.

So first I'm against the portal, next I'm a groupie for one of the portal players. Good for you. Having depth or a plan B is a good thing. Having a "major hole" is something different.

Tommy Kennedy's lack of success at Miami reinforces my point by providing a stark contract with Osborn. Unlike Kennedy, Osborn has come in and impressed: in work outs, in scrimmages and the spring game, in team meetings, everywhere. If we were raving about all of the transfers, that would call into question whether we're just inflating our guys. But Osborn has distinguished himself.

There is a question as to how his game will translate, sure, but it's not "absolutely no idea". That's hyperbole. On the other hand, we have "absolutely no idea" how Hightower will develop. All of the hype around him is due to 1 single garbage time TD in week 1. With Osborn, we have a pretty good idea that he'll be at least a competent, 400+ yard type of receiver.

QB: 4
RB: 5
WR: 9
TE: 5
OL: 14
DL: 16
LB: 8
DB: 15
K: 1
P: 1

78 scholarship players including Murphy, Few, Hill, Phillips, Osborn, Martell, Bolden, Nnoruka, Traore, Hedley, Kennedy.

We would be in such horrific shape if Richt had not stepped down and Diaz didn't blitzkrieg the portal.

We have 2 punters

I got 79 including those 4:

QB: 4
RB/FB: 5
WR: 9 incl Few
TE: 5
OL: 15 incl James LS
DL: 16
LB: 10 incl Frierson/Finley
DB: 13 incl J.Murphy/D. Smith
Spec: 2
Spicer also. If you go by the eligibility chart on this site we had 81 including wilder.

Apparently buffalo receiver core must have been really talented last year considering 3 returning receivers transferred to power 5 schools already including kJ Osborn
