Update - Clarification from David Lake, 247 TODAY

I think the argument against is that the new AD should at least be given time to evaluate staff before he makes any firings. But this doesn't rule out Zo being the assassin given authority as "head of football ops" from doing it. He has been "in the building" long enough to have made proper evals. I think he may actually be the first hired announcement on the docket before AD is announced.
That doesn’t take months though. The dumb BOT thinks it does because that’s how it works in business but not in sports. Hernandez comes though then it’s going to be months because he’ll be their crony.

And you are correct on Zo but that’ll conflict with the opening.

Probably gonna get punked because its my first post. But this statement also looks planted by the BOT. There is definitely a fight going on or we would already have an AD.
Punked? We've been waiting 6 years for this. Welcome!

I agree...but if it is Hernandez, unless they give Zo all the authority for football, they may as well keep Diaz. But I don't think Zo and Diaz are together in any way, shape, or form. Wasn't it Blake and Diaz that kept Zo from coming previously so they went with Reed for a ceremonial position instead to appease the fan base? It appears Zo already in the house.

Love ya Empi, but in regards to (1) keeping Manuela is no homerun. It's the equivalent of whiffing on a 3-2 pitch while getting beaned in the head by pitch and going down with season ending injury
Oh I AGREE.... i was merely putting forth the fantasy that AD retains Manuela amd he restores Miami...

This post by Lake violates the Golden Rule: “Those who have the Gold make the Rules.”

The notion that Julio Frenk is acting as some sort of Rebel Without A Clause who is going to go out and select someone that the Board Whales might not want is passing strange. The Board Whales are the ones who are bringing in the Deep Pocket Money to juice the Program (as well as the rest of Athletics). The notion that Fenk would ignore them is borderline laughable.
what if the new whales have more than the old whales???

So here's Ferman's latest contribution:

I did some research on all this this AM
Here is the bottom line:
He remains the athletic chair on the Board. He still has a seat in the room and a say and will be involved in the AD search for sure. But he is not the ultimate decision maker.
Why would he be a Manny supporter and want to see Manny get another year?
because he was involved in the hiring of Manny in the first place.
He would definitely stand up and say they have only given Manny three years and he has shown improvement the last half of the season and we need to see this through.
A Manny firing would be a statement that he also failed when Manny was hired. I think everyone on this board shares the opinion on that.
But for example, he was not involved in Blake's firing.
I think he will be involved in the AD search over the next week or so, would probably be part of a team that interviews the top 2-4 candidates.
The President will be the ultimate decision maker on that.

At that point, I think then the discussion turns to the football coach and the new AD becomes the decision maker with obvious imput from the others. Epstein would probably be part of that panel as well. But he wont unilaterally be the decision maker on anything. he is a voice in the room.

Si se puede!
If Frenk wants to be a boss he would say “Manny, you’re fired.” Walk away while looking at all the BOTs that spread rumors about keeping Manny. So that way everyone stfu.

I can already see where this is going. if we don't land Mario we are going to end up with Mark Stoops.

if Lane did leave in 2-3 years that means he had success here. when did we get in the position to pass up 2-3 years of success.

I mean I’d rub one out with lube if we get Mark Stoops. Hardly a consolation prize

This guy's aiming to continue sinking this ship

You clearly don't know what the words "power struggle" mean.

And you certainly don't know how to spell "dysfunction", let alone define it.
Right, everything about this process has been totally functional and normal. Lots of universities conduct their coaching and athletic director search like a reality TV show game. But hey thanks for the spelling tip Chachi.

Fantastic post and what it’s 100% on. JF has taken the issues head on and has made it clear it’s his show for now. He’s surrounded himself with credible voices and by all accounts has done everything possible to right the wrongs. There is no power struggle. I’ve heard directly from 1 member of the BOT that his urgency and prioritization of the athletic program at this time has changed the overall dynamic and feelings of some of those status quo folks who have had a hand in being where we are now. This is in large part due to JF being hands off until this point and those people seeing his urgency and fundamentally falling in line in support.

As far as Manny goes. Understand the intentions right now is a complete overhaul of the athletic department. As of this moment there is 0 belief he will be back as he will be a casualty of the changes. And while speaking of the HC. It’s subject to change based on AD. However, the chances of LK coming here are very very slim. He is not a very popular potential choice with those that matter. Biggest issue is not him being a goof at times but instead his inability or unwillingness to stay to long. Outside of any other concerns that is by far the biggest hurdle and a legitimate one at that.
You still have to talk to Kiffin & let him address those concerns

GF doesn’t know when to stop. Then people wonder why me and others were staying out of the stupid threads about his article. I’d be more interested to hear how many gerbils @CFLCane stuffed in his recital cavity last week than reading GF’s article other day. Which worked , he played everyone and won.
