UF vs TNM

Franks improved pretty well last season. He’ll probably continue to improve as well. Our best bet is to destroy their O-line. We know our D-ends will get upfield so it will all come down to the DT’s pushing the pocket. Returning all three LB’s along with Romeo will be huge for our defense this season.

Our DT's have not proven anything. It was all Willis last year. That said, we should still have the edge there and we need to shut down their run game and make Franks beat us. This game has a bunch of interesting matchups on both sides and both teams have a lot of ?'s to be answered. Can their new tackles matchup vs our DE's? Can our OL hold up against their DL? Our green secondary vs their experienced group of WR? Who is gonna start at QB for us? This game certainly will not be easy.

We have 1 starter returning on our d-line and Pat Bethel.

Yup.

I'm struggling to see this massive advantage on our DL. We know Garvin can play. That's about it. Now...that's not saying this can't or won't be a dominating front. It absolutely CAN be. Nesta SHOULD be really good. Rousseau SHOULD be really good. Hill SHOULD be eligible, motivated, and really good. Nnoruka SHOULD be able to contribute. But Joe Jackson is an NFL player, and is gone. Gerald Willis III should have been a **** first-team All-America, and is gone. Tito Odenigbo was a pretty solid player last year. They're all no longer here.

There's a lot of "if"'s here. Just like **** near every other team. But some of you guys are talking like Clemson was before the 2018 season....like we have all these insane horses coming back ready to dominate. We have a LOT of kids we're REALLY excited about, and for good reason. But they haven't done **** on toast yet. I'm confident the front 7 (and specifically the DL) will be just fine because I believe there's excellent talent there and the system Manny runs lets those kids go make plays, but posts talking like Franks and any other QB we'll face won't be able to throw because they'll be on their *** the whole game is pretty premature, IMO.

I mean people talking like Willis and Jackson is still on the team.

Honestly stack the box and make franks beat you by throwing the ball

While Franks improved last year, he still had a average to below average completion % and that's what worries me. He was fine when his first read was open but where he struggled at, and i hope he improves in this area, was being able to go through his reads. Quite frankly, he was terrible at it last season

That Miller kid better not be a bust. Supposed to be a steal from what some said.
Jordan Miller? If we are relying on a guy who only saw limited action against Savannah State last year to do anything in our first game of the season we will be in trouble. I doubt he cracks the rotation against UF.

I'm not the slightest bit concerned about them scoring on us. It's not going to be a shutout or anything but it's definitely going to be another case of "If the offense can score 28, we win" .

Franks is what he is. An average, at best quarterback. His numbers for the season are decent but most of that is padded against bad teams. I think I saw a stat that said 11 of his 24 touchdown passes came in three games against Charleston Southern, FSU and Colorado State. We will be able to get pressure on him and force him to beat us.

Whether our offense vastly improves from last year is a whole different issue. I'm not nearly as confident in them as I am in the defense.

Lol and leave Ivey or blades alone with Grimes, Cleveland and Jefferson.
Yes, unless and until Franks proves he can move them consistently against our defense that is exactly what I'd do. I'm not saying do it on every single down, if we get them into 3rd and long then we wouldn't stack the box. Not sure why you think this is funny, have you watched UF? Their strength is clearly the ground game.
