Jim harbaugh is giving the SEC, ACC, and the FLA BIg 3 the double middle finger with this move, holy crap. It wasn't bad enough he has come into Florida and tried to hand pick recruits, he also went out curb stomp the Fing Gators in the BWW's Citrus Bowl game in Orlando (which the Gators Coach professed in a TV interview was a Gator Town, apparently Michigan felt differently. because I was at the game an it was 2 to 1 U of Mich fans). If Steve Walsh okays those Mich's practices then Miami would have to choose to hold some practices also up in Tampa, similar to what Golden did a few years back out in Ft Myers with the scrimmage.

Last year, Jim Harbaugh irked many in the SEC and ACC when he held official Michigan summer camps throughout the Southeast. It felt like the Wolverines purposefully directed their efforts to invade SEC territory from the big bad midwest and “Big Ten country.”

Harbaugh is always full of good ideas and has another one that will send him straight into SEC country again.

The Detroit Free Press reports Harbaugh and his Wolverines program is going to try to hold at least a portion of its spring practice at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, a flag squarely planted in talent-rich Florida.

The idea still needs conference and NCAA approval. But no one could blame the Wolverines for wanting to get away from Michigan during the winter. And IMG has all the facilities the team would need to house players.

Undoubtedly, any time Michigan can move into Florida and get itself in front of those recruits, it is a good thing. And this is completely uncharted territory for the NCAA for spring practices. Typically everyone does their spring practice and spring game on campus — Florida State will have its spring game at the Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando this spring while Doak Campbell Stadium gets renovated.

It is still unclear what this means or whether Michigan will be able to go through with this plan. But the Wolverines have put themselves in position to move into the Southeast again. Michigan is trying to become a national power by going where the talent is.

The big 3 needs to block this bull****, Ohio State would never let a Florida school have spring practice at Glenville or Toledo or whatever
 
Focus on the message of the post, stop trying to stir up crap. The message is that this type of out of state off season recruiting ploy should not be allowed.

I don't really see a problem with it. Has no effect on us really - we win and the talent will stay home. Period.

Michigan is really giving Ohio St (who has pipelines in Florida) the middle finger here.

Not allowed by whom ??
It's a free country so unless the NCAA has something to say about it...I'm not sure how you are trying to stop them.
 
Ignoring the NCAA approval for a second, I can't see how this gets done unless they go during a weekend or spring break. Kids still have to go to school

You don't see a problem with a school planting a flag in your backyard which will open the gates for other schools to do the same

I welcome the competition.

Have we really fallen so far that we're afraid of the University of fvckin Michigan holding some stupid spring game somewhere in the state of Florida?

If anything, all of this "flag planting" in Florida has just put more pressure on our administration/BOT to win games. And when we get back to winning, the players will once again be lined up at our front door, not Michigan's, begging for scholarships.

I don't think some of you realize how popular we still are, despite our recent shortcomings, with local talent in Florida.

It's not about competition. It's about not letting some other school into your house, into your territory

Bradeton is not our backyard.....wtf? That has more impact on the swamp reptile and FSU. I'd be tempted to be OK with it actually. Some of those players in that area, we will never get

Agreed. This won't really impact us, it not the SOM.

You're fooling yourself if you don't think IMG Academy is going to continue to expand its reach in terms of recruiting talent throughout Florida and the Southeast to play at their program.
