Kids don’t know good coaches from bad coaches any more than they know good tattoo artists from bad ones. They see coaches working for bigtime programs and assume they’re qualified coaches.

We know Coley isn’t a good OC. But Campbell likes Coley because Coley is a good schmoozer. He’s a good salesman and has the gift of gab and has convinced Campbell that he’s got Campbell’s best interests at heart. He’s built a relationship and friendship with Campbell like any good recruiter/salesman does.

I get the feeling Rumph isn’t that sort of guy. He’s not a schmoozer or a silver-tongued salesman. He’s just a regular guy who probably tells it like it is and doesn’t really have any game.

Unfortunately, kids are impressionable and can’t cut through bullshyt like seasoned adults. They’re more prone to being convinced by slick talking guys like Coley and Dameyune Craig than they are to gravitate to a low key no BS guy like Rumph.

Campbell should be a UM layup given everything in our favor. The reason it’s still nip and tuck is because the programs we are battling have better salesmen on the case. We will likely get him, but it got way closer than it needed to be because we don’t have as much pitch on our side.

It also doesn't help we are not in the playoff. Which teams is Campbell considering? All playoff teams.

Uphill battle by our staff in that regard.

If Ohio Taint nipped Alabaga for that last playoff spot he’d still be interested in Alabaga. You guys put too much stock in each win and loss when it comes to recruiting. We did enough on the field this year to show we are a couple good men away from winning it all.

All im saying is i believe somebody said he had been posting a lot of uga stuff all year on twitter but it was still said that miami leads. So how is this interview any different? It's obvious he really likes uga but doesn't mean he is going there.

Frierson liked uga too. Dude visited their a lot and was wearing their gear and he still signed with miami.

Are you saying we're finally on the good end of "I love your school but I need to do what's best for me"?

This is unfortunately true. This is why it's important to have a family that can look past the salesman tactics and determine what's the best for their kid.

Given Rattler's presence on this board, it seems like Campbell's got a strong foundation set. But again, he noted Coley as an important part in his recruitment.

My point remains exactly the same. He is considering the absolute elite programs in CFB and then us.

We are his leader which is a **** good thing. You'd think the fact we are his leader would be celebrated.

Folks need to stop acting like b*tches.

We just played in the ACCCG & a NY6 bowl game pitch to him that he is a key part of getting us into the playoff. We didnt play southern miss in the independence bowl or play in the toilet bowl lile UF.

We have plenty to sell. This board has PTSD from Jobe.

Looks like he will be a Cane in the end.

Campbell is gonzo!!!

We will all then say that Ivey Blades Gil are true Canes. The truth is 2 of 3 are probably safeties.

We need to hire a badass DB coach that is a monster recruiter like Travaris Robinson

Banda and Rumph need to go.

Hire a true LB coach and the 10th assistant needs to be an offensive game planning type coach

That interview doesn’t sound good. He said two measly generic sentences about us then went on & on about UGA. If we don’t land these AH kids then idk what to say about Rumph.

This is more than 2 sentences.

Campbell has been to local Miami the most and has watched the program turnaround under Mark Richt and company.

“It’s great to see how he came into a program that wasn’t doing so well, had some bad years and he just came in and worked with the guys and helped them win their first bowl game in a couple years (the first season) and the following year had a big season winning the (ACC) Coastal and having a 10-win season.”

A couple things make Miami right.

“The depth they have at my position and just being from Miami,” he said. “Being close to home.”

Sounds UGA bound ... all we have is depth and proximity...While UGA told him he will win chips there .

No worries, when Oki smokes UGA today, the tables will turn once again

I don’t think that happens.

I think it’s more important to realize the game is the game and hire better salesmen. You’re not going to change the game. So you need to get better at it.

Georgia ain't elite. Look at their record last year. This is the first year they've been good in a LONG time. And that's because they have a ton of 21 and 22 year olds playing for them.

The people acting like bytches (and I’m not sure they’re acting) are the ones who can’t handle this discussion on a recruit who has told the world he’s open and taking visits without getting so emotional and calling the guys discussing it rationally “b*tches.”

From what i have seen, Campbell is being diligent and handling the process very rationally. He's surveying the scene and down to what he believes are his best options. But kneejerk, sky-is-falling reactions to a very vanilla article written for $$ based on an interview with a kid who is too smart to say something inflammatory or definitive is a bad look and foolhardy.

UM clearly leads for Campbell, but he's still looking at UGA, Alabaga, and possibly o$u. The staff will need to keep fighting to keep him. If the staff has shown anything in recruiting the last few cycles, It's that they do not fold. They will lose some battles, but not for want of effort. With a logical and rational kid like Campbell, I like our odds.

Exactly, last year Georgia ended the season 8-5. We ended the season 9-4. Georgia has the exact same coaching staff now as they had last year. So do we. You watch today when they show how many juniors and seniors are starting for Georgia (predominantly seniors). Georgia is not winning because all of a sudden their coaching became better, they are winning because they have a bevy of experience on the field, as in 21 and 22 year olds starting, not to include their QB. I hope TC is smart enough to figure this out, but I do have to remind myself that these are 17 year old kids.
