Ty Simpson (is not yet in the portal)

Top 5 picks will make $8M to $10M in year 1.
Picks 6-11 will make $5M to $7m in year 1.
Picks 12-15 will make $4M to $4.5M
Picks 16-32 will make $$2.9 to $3.6M
So, you're saying Dart's contract (the 25th pick) will be less for the 25th pick in the 2026 draft than Dart's selection?

If we really are after Simpson, expect to hear us linked to Raiola and Leavitt a whole lot more now. He gains leverage by declaring. We gain leverage by saying we will go diff direction and calling bluff.

In a nutshell, if a QB isn't top 10, they would do well to play another year in college if they're getting > $4m
not necessarily - you need to look at the entire picture. that argument would only be for the short-term 1 year money.

looking end to end....what is the QB class like the next year? how many teams currently need QBs? how many will expect to need QBs next year? all that will impact draft slot and future pay. based on that info, where would you expect to go int he first round to see the total payout over 4-5 years.

This year is such a bad year for qbs (even #1 this year), that if Simpson is getting first round buzz, he needs to get gone already.
Next year, even with a really good year, he’ll likely get lost in the shuffle with draft eligible qbs next year.

He could have a great season with us and still fall lower next year than he would if he rolled the dice on the draft this year.

exactly - unless you are a top 10 pick, in some cases an extra year of college will net you more money NIL is providing players with a little more patience and flexibility.
