*Two-Zero E Reed, Boi...Hired as Chief of Staff*

I'm a Baltimore native. Diehard Ravens fan. And while I LOVE Ed Reed, and while he is known as a football genius and super respected by the Tom Brady and Belichick types, he was never a vocal leader on those teams. It was 100% Ray's team. Not a salesman type. And he was considered sort of his own dude. Walked to a different beat. Wasn't influenced by bling, wasn't interested in the nightlife. So I guess I'm just curious how his lead-by-example approach works here. Definitely can't hurt if his work ethic rubs off.
Big Baltimore ravens fan. Yet curious how a HOF can lead? Hmmm......

That's the point. Ray sucked up every bit of oxygen in every room he was ever in - at least publicly. Maybe Ed was the power behind the throne.

Ed was ever bit the player as Ray, but Ray had the squirrel dance, Ray has the statue, etc. Though when they are together in these settings, Ed clearly doesn't take a back seat.

What does one thing have to do with the other. Ray was already the leader when he got there. The guy is a HOF. Don't think one of the best of all time was taking orders from anyone. I think the whole Ray leader argument is a crock..

Then you didn't follow the Ravens for that 15 year period.

It’s foolish for some of you to think or expect that he would have the same power we wanted highsmith to have. Now what Ed Reed WILL do better than Alonzo is in everything else when it comes to Reestablishing that culture we have been missing, film study for the dbs, on campus recruiting , just plain relating with players and a number of other things. People know of highsmith but they KNOW who Ed Reed is and that’s a big difference. Literally no one is or should have been expecting ED Reed to have the power to hire/fire assistants, Reed is not Alonzo and Alonzo is not Ed Reed. Highsmith has more experience in the scouting department and managing things while reed is a football LEGEND and in the hall of fame and known as one of the best leaders ever. Both have their strengths but reed should do well in this role. Did you watch the reunion show? Reed knows what our program is missing and he’s trying to help recreate what it’s lacking right now
Interestingly neither guy has any experience running a college football program. I’m cool with that though. As others have said and I have said whatever he brings us is a positive and will make the program better. Just the idea of having an nfl hall of famer, all American and national champ in the Building full time is a win for the program.

Hope he brings the defensive accountability to the offense. That’s what’s required.

It’s a good move, for both parties.

Zo is literally in line to be a GM, and as there are so few minority candidates available, this to me would have made him underemployed.

he’s beyond this kind of position and policing. Glad Ed isn’t, and can make an impact!

Ed Reed back full time is the best thing to happen to us in ages. Natural leader with genuine likability by virtually everyone who loves his alma mater. Ready to start kicking *** again, let go man!!

Ok, I slept on this news. I am impressed. I am ready to see if Ed's infectious work ethic and personality can really make inroads for this university.

I want him out recruiting with Manny. Learn from the goat. like WTF. Amazing.

Look, we are back-to-back offseason champions. Like this year there isn't a school in the country that has made more polarising moves, on the personnel and player front. I prefer being an in-season champion...

Lets hope it comes together.

Taking the emotion and excitement out of this, how amazing will it be the first time Ed Reed texts or calls a recruit and/or his parents. That has to hold some pretty powerful weight. Another amazing aspect of this hire.

Lol...I can assure you that he was Vocal on that team (family member coached there)
And as far as the "He walked to his own Beat"..."Wasn't interested in Nightlife" comments,...So??....He was exactly like that at UM...

He won’t be allowed to go out recruiting as he’s not an on field coach.

Ed sitting down with JJ and Bandy before that Notre Dame game... Dammit mane... I'm happy and I can finally start back betting on my CANES

We have all observed this for YEARS.

E Reed 100% spot on.

I love Ed Reed too and I would bring him on staff in anyway possible for recruiting, development, etc. I do think Reed will help the culture problem as well.

However, Miami is making this more difficult than they have to. We also need to bring on an actual qualified AD to run the athletic dept. This would solve most of our problems.
