Two biggest takeaways

1. We have a QB.
2. Our backs are much better than our wide receivers.
Surprised there is no comment on the DBs from you. Some really poor play in the secondary tonight.
Special teams would have been an A+ if not for Pope's muff.
If King gets his deep ball settle a bit watch out - he missed two long completions tonight to open receivers

Ivey really is tough to watch at times. When he’s beat, he looks like a wounded predator chasing down prey. Blades is serviceable. I thought Hall did real well. Didn’t notice Bolden too much. Nesta had a fantastic game. Roche and Phillips were solid. Linebackers were meh.

How can that be your biggest takeaway? I agree with what you're saying but our o-line didn't get push or pass protect tonight. We gained yards because we have better athletes.
We also have better athletes than every team we’ll face in the ACC outside of Clemson and FSU. That UAB defense is better than Louisville’s.

Agreed on all of this. DEs need to get in the back field a little more often, but they did their job. Ivey looks like 2019 Ivey which is a bad sign. Some WRs are going to eat on his side of the field this year.

1 - We have a QB who is dynamic
2 - we have a trio of running backs who can break free in a split second
3- Cornerback play was not acceptable if we want to make the ACCCG
4 - O line was good not great, didn't get to the second-level nearly enough and was suspect with pass blocking
5 - Linebackers are athletic but missed a few tackles; expect that to tighten up going forward
6 - WE HAVE A KICKER AND PUNTER

I got obliterated on this board all summer for having the audacity to say Miami doesn’t have 5 Biletnikoff winners at WR, but your point #2 is clear as day and has been obvious for a long time. We have no game changers at WR. We do at RB.

Good win. Lot to improve to have a truly successful season, but for game 1 in this weird *** season, it was a good win and everyone should enjoy it.

Lashlee needs to earn his paycheck by scheming them open. Also, using the tight ends more will take pressure off the WRs. They don’t have to be All Americans for us to have success.

We also gained yards because the fast pace scheme wore down the UAB defense. UAB has a good defense for a non P5 school, but I was disappointed by the lack of push by the offensive line.

Let's see how much they improve from game 1 to game 2.
