TVD

If he plays basketball, and assuming he starts or get regular playing time, then he’s more mobile than Williams. basketball demands mobility. No other way to play unless your 6’10” or bigger
Definitely higher acumen in fast twitch muscle ability....

Van Dyke isn’t quite the athlete many of you on this site are making him out to be. He’s mobile enough.....he’s not Brad Kaaya....but he’s really not Jarren Williams or Kosi Perry either.

If he pans out, it’s gonna be based off his arm strength (which is above average but not phenomenal). Not his ability to out-athlete P5 kids.
There gems & busts at every major level of football, especially in major college conferences - the NFL takes more smarts then just elite athleticism.

Hopefully the coaches make King and Tyler the 1st/2nd string QB; My thinking is just to help Tyler get as many practice reps as he can as King has the ability to escape pressure.. Last summer Tate, Jarren, and Kosi showed both during practice, plus the actual games that they can not read the defense at all.

Brad Kaaya was an above average college QB given the fact the tight end's were the only offensive receiver position he [Al Golden] knew how to evaluate. Malik Rosier was a late addition in 2014 but he was better at reading the defense, at least on the designed QB runs; Also before there was more games to scout his tendencies, was a better passer then - Kosi ever was. Jarren himself showed he doesn't want to compete against King.

Haloti Ngata 40-yard dash considered elite for his size; Dontari Poe at the combine measured even heavier but ran even faster then Ngata.

Ngata showed more athleticism on the actual field then Poe ever did. Besides the fact all of them hire trainers to literally practice every combine drill. The QB position requires the person to literally make guesses based on the play call, then the entire defense, if the defense audibles - Then even more guess work.

Its the same how there a certain QB's that the coaches hate giving them the ability to make audibles; Aaron Rodgers was the coordinator and athlete himself once he learned the call sheet.

His wide outs looked good, wish that sometimes a QB could include some of his H S team mates as a package...

No "if" about it

I love his film.. looks like a kid that had thrown the ball a million times in the backyard or at the local park in pick up games. Just had a great feel for the game. Sometimes I think kids are over trained thus the failures at the NFL level.

This is what jumped out at Paradise. He was not as mechanical or coached up as I expected. Very loose and athletic.

I see a lot of questionable throws that are a BIG problem at this level with better athletes. He's far from can't miss and looks like more of a schoolyard thrower than polished product that's going to fit your scheme right away. A year or two down the road, it'll be interesting to see how he's taken to the coaching and progressed.

One of the most frustrating things about our team the last 3 years is that we have been SO bad at QB, the backups don't get reps, unless it's because the dude in front of them got benched. Too many close games against scrub teams to really get the backups in. That HAS to change this year. I hope we take full advantage of the 4 game redshirt rule with TVD. I say play him in two games early, as they should be blowouts, then save him for a couple games later in the year. He very well could be the starter in 2021, so we should really get him in there as much as possible to get him ready.

Being able to out-athlete players is an overrated trait in QBs.

Snap judgment- would you take a QB with these stats?

5.28 40
8' 3" broad jump
24.5" vertical
4.38 shuttle

Figure out who it is yet?

He wasn't and when there was good talent on the field it was only a few players. South Florida HS teams have great players surrounded by a lot of decent players.

Not bad for a 6th round pick and back up QB. Nine Super Bowls, winning six of them, the most of any player in NFL history. He has won a record four Super Bowl MVP awards as well as three NFL MVP awards. 42 years old and threw for over 4,000 last year. That comeback against Atlanta a few years back in the Super bowl has got to be an all time great. After trailing 28–3 midway through the third quarter and winning in overtime 34-28.
