And here’s an excerpt from the blog that, honestly, is a huge concern for me. Basically sounds like nobody has any idea what happened:

“I talked to coach Cristobal a little bit and it was really no answer. He asked me what happened with the team and I was like, `I have no answer, coach.’ There’s nothing much you can say, not much you can do. All you have to do is watch the film and you can see that they wanted it a little bit more than us, and you can tell by how they played and how they capitalized on the mistakes we made.

I talked with coach Cristobal on Sunday before a team meeting, he just ran into me. He just asked me, `What happened? What do you think happened?’ I said I don’t know, you just have to get back to the drawing board and see the holes that we’re missing and we just have to start plugging them in with the right players and the right mindset. He thought I had an answer, but the answer is `I don’t know, coach, we just have to get back to work, figure out what went wrong, where the holes are and keep working and try to improve in those areas.’”

Um.. doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Yikes.

Ima guess you've never managed people. What's in their heads can tell you a lot about the things people are holding inside. If your trying to fix the culture getting their open and honest opinions on the team is paramount. People open up after failures much more than they do successes.

Buy ins count and they are worth their weight in gold.

Sounds like he is doing his job.

JFC.

They are going to get prison loved by UNC.

I'm sure Mario knows what happened. But a good coach wants the players' perspective so he can address differences between truth and perception. The bigger concern is that TS didn't have an informed opinion.
I dunno I think TS answered as good as you can but I kinda see what you mean as well

There is literally no explanation for it other than what he said (they wanted it more than us)

You don’t even need to watch the film when you lose a game like this

Gattis and Steele also spotted them 14 points as UM couldn't score on 1st and goal from the 1 yard line, and as soon as MTSU got the ball back, it was immediately followed by a 100 yard TD pass.

I'm no defensive coordinating genius, but I've seen enough football to know that immediately after a big stop on D and huge momentum swing, the other side is immediately going to take a shot at the end zone. Guess I picked the wrong career.
Yes, but not usually from within your own 5 yard line. That being said, I don't see how you don't have deep safety help over the top after seeing how the CBs were being burned all day.

So TS2 is NOT our best CB?

Aaron Paul What GIF by Breaking Bad
at this point... im going with graves and rogers lol

He knows the answer just like even the dullest knives in the CIS drawer do ..... other than TS2 our CBs (young and old) are TERRIBLE.

UNC should score a billion points b/c the blueprint of quick passes to WRs in space plays to the worst part of our defense (besides 0, 11, and 17s tackling of course).

Came in to say this...Other than Kinchens, and Stevenson are secondary arent good tacklers at all. Anything in space ...look out. Thats their main weakness....other than what we just saw saturday with certain ones lacking foot speed

Honestly this is a great write-up from him. Don’t buy the whole everyone is buying in thing, but at least he recognizes the need for accountability.

I would rather TS just admit that they thought they could sleep walk through a weaker team and everyone lacked preparation and intensity.

What are we *****ing about today?

TS getting caught off guard by Mario?

Or that we know the conversation happened?

Both?

Neither?

Huh? What in the world are you talking about? Read the entire blog post. I understand he was trying to see what was on Stevenson’s mind, but the point is it sounds like nobody is on the same page.

I have no idea how you get that I’ve “never managed people” from me simply quoting an excerpt of him rambling on and basically amounted to a bunch of generic nonsense. Nothing against TS personally, perhaps he simply doesn’t want to make anything public, but regardless it’s very far from promising.

Add onto that, again, Mario was a deer in headlights the entire game and had NO ANSWER for what was happening outside of replacing TVD, which only made it look a little closer on the scoreboard.

I hope I’m wrong, but this UNC game is about to be a bloodbath.
