Mario Cristobal and staff stayed hot on the transfer portal trail, as defensive end Anthony Campbell from the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) announced his commitment to the Canes. Campbell, originally from Bartow, Florida, will be returning to his home state to join the Hurricanes and is expected to make an immediate impact by adding depth to their defensive line rotation.

Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 283 pounds, Campbell is an imposing presence on the field. After graduating from high school in 2018, he began his collegiate football career at Independence Community College in Kansas, where he played for two seasons before transferring to ULM.

In the 2022 season, Campbell recorded 13 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. His performance caught the attention of several Division I programs, with recent offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, TCU, Penn State, and others. Ultimately, however, Campbell has chosen to take his talents to Miami, where he will be a valuable asset to the Hurricanes' defense.

With his size and athleticism, Campbell has the potential to make a significant impact on Miami's defensive line. The Hurricanes have been busy gathering commitments from the transfer portal in the last week — picking up RB Ajay Allen (Nebraska), CB Ja’Dais Richard (Vanderbilt), WR Tyler Harrell (Alabama), and now Campbell. The Canes are expected to stay active and add more to the roster. Stay tuned to Canesinsight for all of the updates.
