Tough and Physical

Good points...I'm talking just as much as from a personnel standpoint though

Ward more of a big play hunter…with a better deep ball, although I wouldn't short Beck in either regard.

But imo...

Arroyo
George
And even though not a speed back by any means, there is a little bit more of a big play chunk yardage aspect to Martinez game then there is with Fletcher and especially Brown's game. Even Horton who isn't as polished a WR and definitely not as good at making tough catches, fighting for the ball…The one advantage he probably has over Daniels is deep threat.

Were all capable of big plays that may not quite be there this year without Lyle and Trader (maybe eventually Pringle) in the lineup.

I mean we have 2 plays over 30 yards in 2 games and one of the opponents was Bethune Cookman. Even if you account for keeping it vanilla against BC, you still expect an RB or WR to house one or 2. This isn't really a complaint because there's a ton to like about the offense, just an observation that this is more of a success rate based than explosive type offense right now, although it still has a chance to be a very good one.
Someone made a thread about it last year. Brown/George/X were all yac monsters.

Thats a skill and also its a confidence and experience thing, toney showed some of it but we will need our skill players to make 5 yard gains into 10-15, and 10 yard gains into 20-25 if we plan on sustaining a high level the entire year

I'd like to add that this team has a very serious, professional tone as well. I've been to a lot of Miami games throughout the years, and this team appears to take every game like pros - no "swaying" before kickoffs, no sideline dancing, no chains/jewelry, no goofing off between series. Just a bunch of "grown kids" acting like they've been there before and have one thing in mind.
Astute point and I agree

Toney>x
Daniels=george
Marian=brown
Moore= Horton

Disagree on speed. Brown was the only burner and Marion has similar speed.

Marian doesn't really look like a WR out there, as a WR he's a poor man's version of Brown, who wasn't a rich man himself.
Moore is where your experience comes in, definitely can be a size/speed type as he develops
George definitely more of a big play than Daniels, even though Daniels does look more explosive than last year now healthy
Arroyo was special as a big play TE, looked like a deer on the TD Vs. GT
RB without Lyle

And then like someone mentioned the YAC factor

What does one have to do with the other?

Yes he’s a cheating lying sob and a **** good HC.

Of course it’s valid to feel a little excited that a HC that’s been there many times has good things to say about your team.

It can be both.
On CIS one ALWAYS has something to do with the other man...

As I said, I was just checking...

No disagreement here...

I AM READY TO BRAWL

Who could disagree?

The one weakness: WR speed. I could see some elite DBs containing us simply because we can’t blow the doors off them. Now maybe Marian can land a few and change my mind.

The other concern would be quality depth. Lowe could have played a role by the cfp. 16 games is a ton of football. We need to get serious about blowing teams out to save starters reps and getting back ups more.
Dont forget about Trader bro.

Marion, Trader and Moore are fast enough. DE might be our deepest spot. We started the year with a 4 deep of kids who the coaches trust.

The great Miami teams were famous because of the "swagger" and vibes, but they won due to physical domination of the opponent. This was never more true than the 2001 team.
How many times did Dorsey get sacked that year? Once or twice? I believe the number was 17 for the entire season but I’m sure some were on backups

Beck hasn’t gotten sacked this year. Let’s keep that trend going starting today 🙏🙏

If I recall correctly, and that’s a big if, Dorsey was only sacked four times the entire 2001 season.
