TOS report on RJ and Kendrick

So our DT rotation next year is Willis, Bethel, Ford, and Silvera....with Demetrius Pinching down on passing downs. That can win the Coastal again if our offense gets better.

Pinning our defensive success on a head case, a freshman and two guys that have played about 30 snaps combined is tough

If you can’t stop the other team, you have to outscore them. Richt will have weapons. He puts up 30+ pts a game, we win the coastal.

Part 1 of changing the culture is convincing kids like this to think about the program and themselves at least equally. Part 2 is selling them on a plan to get them both paid more money after another season, then delivering.

If these boys come back, we definitely fuggin' next year.

Part 1 is completely laughable. Sounds very romantic, but unrealistic.

What employee, let alone one that works for free, thinks about themselves and the company they work for on equal terms?

If another company offered you more money to come work for them, would you stick it out for another year cause it’s what’s best for the company?

This notion that kids should care about the program above all else is insane to me. I’m sure most do care about the U and forever will. But when it’s time to get paid, they’re gonna do what any other person would do.
I don't know, Sonny Michel and Nick Chubb? Multiple Alabama DL the past 3 seasons? It happens all the time in college football. You may not like that fact because it hasn't been the case at our program, but those are the facts everywhere. Otherwise as you're suggesting every half decent eligible underclassmen was simply just go to the NFL. But that doesn't happen.

Rack your brain and ask yourself, “what is different at big time, highly funded, donor-rich SEC schools...and how are they different from Miami?”

At Miami, the program has been begging donors for the last six months to get the last $700,000 to finish out the inside of the IPF and still isn’t there yet. Begging.

Alabama, Georgia etc make staying that extra senior year a lot more comfortable, if you get my meaning .

Don’t kid yourselves.

They recruit on the front end and on the back end with a weapon we don’t have and wil never have, loyal, anonymous behind-the-scenes shadow boosters that get the job done and the funds disbursed.
Can't always blame our situations on bagmen. For a long while, returning to UM wasn't profitable. If we get the opportunity to demonstrate that a year at UM "working for free" (whatever that means) can be the difference between rounds 3 and 4 vs. 1 and 2, that's worth millions, more than any bagman can deliver. Won't be the case with every kid, Walton for example was gone regardless, but hanging onto kids like RJ and/or Norton at least half the time is a critical part of taking the step forward.

I have no problem with RJ leaving, he played like a 1st or 2nd rounder in every game but the orange bowl. However, Norton is the one who will cost himself a lot of money. I also don't get why they both had to make the same decisions. I get they are friends and roommates but this is the NFL - one paycheck.

This is not the coaches fault they are leaving. They chose what they thought was best for them. Cant fault them even if you disagree.

That being said, it is the coaches fault for not having the depth you would want behind them. I think we have some nice pieces and time will tell but we have to just keep stacking the talent every year!! I was actually really surprised we only wanted 1 LB in this class as well. Makes no sense and now its even worse with Owens and Gordinier leaving.

I wont put this all on this staff as it being there first real full cycle but it is a question mark for this year for sure.

They have recruited nicely in a lot of spots but there are some spots where you shake your head. DT being #1 .

This "togetherness" nonsense makes no sense. They realize that they will likely get drafted by different teams, right?

Not sure what I'm most disappointed in their decision to leave or their lack of commitment to the program. And before you get all high and mighty there's a possibility that neither will get drafted, it's a huge risk with recent other early entries from Miami as proof.

Maybe they plan on entering a domestic partnership?

Where do we go from here?

You recruit like every other program in the country. You grab a JUCO along with two other kids and then take some more in 2019.
Kind of late for that.... I just don't understand why we weren't prepared for this.

How is it too late? We have multiple targets on our board right now that are visiting in january.

The one thing I don't get is why it was a joint decision. Two grown men, who most likely will not play together again, live in the same city during the season, etc, are out here making business decisions together. Baffling.

I thought RJ could have come back and worked his way into the top 10, like Jonathan Allen did at Bama. I'm actually higher on Norton despite him being ranked lower by the "experts." Think he has above average athleticism for his size, but needs to work on his pass-rush ****nal, which is why another year with Kool could have helped him too.

Bottom line, they are Canes and always will be. Hoping for the best for them. This is not a Kaaya or Yearby situation, they will be good pros, just think they could have improved their stock by coming back and helped us compete for the ultimate prize in doing so.

Projections
Mcintosh- 3rd Round (Range 2nd to 4th)
Norton- 5th Round (Range 4th to 6th)

**UPDATE
Sources confirm.

I agree. Mcintosh leaving honestly makes some sense. Norton would be silly to leave. You don't leave unless you are 1st or 2nd day pick.
