Toretta as AD

This is definitely the “Miami way” to break the news. Love to see the headline of “first reported by Larry the amigo”
You can’t make it up. Almost as good as the “bring out your dead” scene in Monty Python’s Holy Grail.

As one of JF’s two advisors, in addition to the search firm engaged, I have a really hard time believing that Joe Echevarria would be in favor of hiring Gino. My CPA peeps know better

I have met Gino on a couple occasions and he has been incredibly gracious and giving with his time. So I'm a little biased but I'd be ok if he was AD, although I don't think he's truly qualified to run an athletic department, given that he has no experience doing so. I would be way more inclined to slot him in a "director of football operations" type role where he serves as a liaison b/w the BOT and the football team.

But he's an impressive dude and I have no doubt he'd impress just about anyone. Very professional. Articulate. Very polished. Well mannered. Well spoken. I would not be in the least bit surprised if he were to get in a gig in some capacity here.

Posted in the other thread so I'll ask this here as well.

I do not assume anything until there is an official announcement from the University. But, let's say it is Gino. His current LinkedIn bio has his current role at GAMCO Investors, Inc. as "Institutional asset management. Public Funds, Taft-Hartley and High Net Worth clientele." How does institutional asset management correlate to running an athletic program? Is there some overlap? How are the tasks and objectives similar?

This. Half this board prolly voted for a celebrity to run the country and Gino can’t run Hecht?
As long as Gino does not come down with dementia while in the chair, I'm down with it.

Gino is a smart guy. If nothing else is shakes up the status quo at Hecht. Bring in Zo and you got another smart guy.

In any case, I'm not losing my mind.
