Well the difference with Norvell & Heupel is the Offense will be taken care of with them at the helm, so the only hire they would have to get right is the DC. Its inarguable fact they'll have the Offense playing at a high level, they just have pick the right DC.
Neither are in the same discussion as Folden because they've had more success at their programs than Folden had at Temple who had never won 10 games in a season in his career before coming to Miami.
The problem is we keep hiring Coaches who never get the Offense right, everybody is always worried about the Defense but even top teams with elite Defensive talent (Bama, Clemson, Oh St & LSU) have all came to the light & understood that you can't win without a high octane offense. Just look at LSU, they have had elite Defenses for decades but never won, as soon as they went & got Joe Brady their team elevated overnight into a powerhouse that has a real chance to dethrone Bama in the SEC.
I agree that a splash hire would invigorate the fanbase, but in all honesty what top level coach is dying to come to Miami lol? I feel if you give guys like Norvell or Heupel a pay bump in the $4-5million dollar range they'll come here & take what we got on Offense & have us running an uptempo Spread system that will utilize our talent put points on the board, we'll win 9-10 games annually & then local recruits will start to see us as a viable option to stay home, then by year 3 we'll be contending for the ACC.
I just believe we can kill 2 birds with one stone by getting a young offensive guru as HC here, because even if the Defense doesn't get to an elite level, you can figure that out in time, but when the Offense is dead like it's been here for decades it plagues the program & we can never get out of the graveyard.
If Richt would've just hired a Spread OC from day 1 we wouldn't be in this predicament now lol
