Top Head Coach Candidates

Honestly I’m sick of this “UM won’t pay such & such” Or “UM can’t afford so and so” sh-t. Like I dont understand, why is that no one at the top cares about winning? Help me understand what the BOT at UM don’t understand. At its peak UM is a more recognizable national brand than a good chunk of NFL teams. If Mario, Urban, Campbell, And Les Miles are too far out of our reach financially, than it’s like what’s the point. Trying to find the next Jimmy Johnson on a bargain brand deal is a big roll of dice .This is pathetic, proven coach + proven staff= winning = more revenue, ticket sales skyrocketing, National TV time, TV endorsements, merchandise sells, Top recruits signing, like why is that math so fckin difficult.

Fickell is another good one, I think he's more of a Midwest guy but he basically has the same cheap contract as Heupel & wouldn't be difficult to hire.

I'd even consider Seth Littrell at North Texas, I think he'd be an intriguing coach here with having a QB pipeline into TX, although he seems destined for the Big XII.

Not a fan of the offense he’s running at Cinci. Really, really think we should go spread offensive minded HC next. If you gave me Bill Clark I may be cool with it if he had a plan to switch up the offense he’s used to; because his results have been eye popping at UAB.

Like I’ve stated before I don’t see anybody viable that could lead us for the next 10 years. I’m not sold on Campbell or Dino or any of these guys being able to recruit at a high enough level to get us to national title level. That’s why I’m leaning toward Clarke. He would be a great 5 year stop gap if he brought in somebody like Bedenbaugh and then hand it off to a younger explosive guy

By that logic Manny hasn't lost by more than 7.

@ssvir
Losing consistently to less talented teams doesn’t count. Consistently overachieving with little to work with does.

So are you saying that Manny has less talent on this roster than Matt Campbell does at Iowa State? @Liberty City El is curious just like I am...

They are short sighted idiots that would rather waste money with premature extensions and buyouts, and get nothing in return. They’re insane fools that repeat the same mistake over and over again and expect different results. It’s the only explication I can come up with.

Well the difference with Norvell & Heupel is the Offense will be taken care of with them at the helm, so the only hire they would have to get right is the DC. Its inarguable fact they'll have the Offense playing at a high level, they just have pick the right DC.

Neither are in the same discussion as Folden because they've had more success at their programs than Folden had at Temple who had never won 10 games in a season in his career before coming to Miami.

The problem is we keep hiring Coaches who never get the Offense right, everybody is always worried about the Defense but even top teams with elite Defensive talent (Bama, Clemson, Oh St & LSU) have all came to the light & understood that you can't win without a high octane offense. Just look at LSU, they have had elite Defenses for decades but never won, as soon as they went & got Joe Brady their team elevated overnight into a powerhouse that has a real chance to dethrone Bama in the SEC.

I agree that a splash hire would invigorate the fanbase, but in all honesty what top level coach is dying to come to Miami lol? I feel if you give guys like Norvell or Heupel a pay bump in the $4-5million dollar range they'll come here & take what we got on Offense & have us running an uptempo Spread system that will utilize our talent put points on the board, we'll win 9-10 games annually & then local recruits will start to see us as a viable option to stay home, then by year 3 we'll be contending for the ACC.

I just believe we can kill 2 birds with one stone by getting a young offensive guru as HC here, because even if the Defense doesn't get to an elite level, you can figure that out in time, but when the Offense is dead like it's been here for decades it plagues the program & we can never get out of the graveyard.

If Richt would've just hired a Spread OC from day 1 we wouldn't be in this predicament now lol
This. Lsu and bama are 2nd and 4th in scoring. On offense not defense. Lsu switched to a spread base and in year 1 is averaging 50 a game. Bama is at 48.7.

These 2 teams used to be ground and pound and play defense. Now they putting up points like a big 12 offense. While miami still running these dry *** old school offenses and struggling to score 20.

He had Helfrich in his office and a 10th spot open. 🙃
This is what hurts the most. We had the perfect formula. Cmr was a great politician. He had a long history and respected by a ton of people and coaches and former players. Mallory came here cause his family of mostly coaches trusted cmr.
The local kids were starting to buy in. Manny had the defense that everybody was scared of and I’m sure he wasn’t going anywhere.
All cmr had to do was hire a god **** OC and we would be talking about a top 10 team. No drama no recruiting falling off the face of the earth, no reporters tweeting about a rebuild and no **** spin cycle mode by the coaches and admin.
Cmr would be calling the shots with the money this program would be bringing in right now. Instead he gave the keys to that mutt and that loafer wearing lazy hiring *** mfer. I’m even more ****ed I got suckered into believing this sht was about to take off.
I feel like I keep going back to the same used car lot and believe the same sht from the same salesman as he laughs his *** off while I drive that piece of sht off the lot.

And all this ish about "protecting his son" too. Nothing could have possibly secured his son's future better than having him learn under Helfrich.

Rick hiring a quality OC and then just coaching QBs with Jon would've been as close to the best compromise possible. Rick saves face and stays involved in the offense but makes a move that actually improves the end result.

The problem was the opportunity to call plays and controlling the offense WAS what rejuvenated him immediately after leaving Georgia. He didn't like the faux CEO role (even though he would've been much more of a real CEO here than he was in Georgia). The sad thing is that the same thing that rejuvenated him is what burned him out again when he started to fail at it.

So we basically had our guy in Rick but we couldn't have him in the situation that would've been successful longterm. It's our effing luck.
