Certainly can’t be any worse?Only way to find out is to immediately dismiss Gattis and let Ponce run the offense rest of the year.

The bigger issue with that team was Andy making his OL coach the DC which feels familiar hereIt reminds me of my Eagles back ten years ago or so when we brought in all the free agents. Then Vince Young called us the “ dream team”. Then we proceeded to suck.
Who coaches WR? Have you seen our WR play this season, or our overall play this season? If we fire Gattis today, who coaches WR? Do we ask Field to double as TE/WR? Ponce goes from QB to OC? Can Mirabal help with TEs? Can we get some alum to come in for the last month to help on O and not cause more problems?
The bigger issue I want to be addressed is the depth of the off-field staff for offense! There is no way Miami should have 15 D-minded off-field guys with 5 on-field guys AND only 5 on-field guys for O.
Mario needs to pull the trigger on one of them at least. Let Ponce call the plays, maybe try to do a littler satterfield stuff with Brown. What’s the point of repping a terrible scheme.
I went and played more tickets at halftime with the same thing in mind. That would’ve happened if I won Powerball last night
Castillo lol. When I read that announcement I was like “ wait , what “?The bigger issue with that team was Andy making his OL coach the DC which feels familiar here
And look at them now Cribby. Lurie letting Roseman call the shots and get players, and a head coach that adjusts on the fly to fit his players strengths (Not to mention some of the best OL & DL lines in pro ball )It reminds me of my Eagles back ten years ago or so when we brought in all the free agents. Then Vince Young called us the “ dream team”. Then we proceeded to suck.
I think I’d can Gattis and let Ponce finish out the season with the offense he wants to run at this point. Gattis is only exacerbating problems now.Is Ponce really that bad?
His offenses are nothing like what Gattis is doing. They don’t fit together. They are probably clashing. It would very difficult to develop the position when oc and qbc are from different systems.
My best friend is a Noles fan and like me he’s knows a little more than the average fan schematically, not an expert , so I was asking him about their offense. First thing he said was “ lots of counters from different formations“. Which brings me to Steele. How are we aligning the way we are and getting out of our lanes knowing they run a bunch of counters? They didn’t even have to get creative. As I said on the podcast “
there’ll be a bunch of window dressing by FSU and eye discipline will be huge”. Well they didn’t even go deep in the bag , they took what they wanted smh.
I’d say it would be impossible to install a new offense this late in the season but Ponce could call plays to players strengths and might have a better feel for the game.I think I’d can Gattis and let Ponce finish out the season with the offense he wants to run at this point. Gattis is only exacerbating problems now.
Fire Gattis- you still need coaches on the field in practice teaching these kids!Who coaches WR? Have you seen our WR play this season, or our overall play this season?
These players can’t do any worse than Gattis.
The ideal situation would be for Mario to fire himself. But since that isn’t going to happen, he needs to cut all of the dead weight right now, and show recruits that he made mistakes, and that he has a clear and concise plan to correct it all.
If he insists on doing this for the rest of the season, big trouble lies ahead.
I can reduce it down to 1 issue. The fact that we are fielding a football team.I‘m not coming in here and wasting my time and yours posting the same ole drivel about breakdowns, pro’s & cons , who stood out and how I’m feeling as a fan. Nobody wants to read that and tbh I don’t feel like writing it. The game was what it was and so is the season. I’m over it all and I have no emotion about it either way. Nothing was shocking last night and that’s why it was easy for me to turn it off in the third quarter, as if I’ve been watching a bad movie. No anger , sadness or embarrassment. Just another horrible performance on a Saturday. Oh well.
This thread is more about the longterm health of the program and the countless issues staring it in the face . I’m going to make this short and sweet with no sugarcoating.
First and foremost this staff needs changes. Multiple coaches HAVE TO BE GONE!! If not the class will lose guys and current recruits will give Miami no shot. Program changing type recruits Including guys committed. That’s not opinion , that’s purely fact. Nobody wants to play for some of these coaches or their scheme.
We have of a staff of individuals instead of a staff. Coaches that care more about their ego, protecting their brand and moving up in coaching circles versus actually teaching and building relationships. Coaches that came here because they were butthurt at their other job, or had issues with their previous HC’s. When you have coaches leaking crap out or giving quotes throwing players under the bus to cover your own *** you lose the position room. Trust and respect go a long way in coaching and we lack that as a staff. This is far more than horrible coaching , it goes all the way down to recruiting. There’s only a few guys carrying the water and others that think just by showing up to the games everything is Gucci. “You‘ve been recruited , I’ve done my part“ lol.
Yes we have a bad culture , quitters on the roster and lack talent but the issues are much bigger than that. It’s much deeper. There’s toxicity every where and the on field product shows. Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.
A coach I know HATES Feld, but he basically said that the way he trains/overtrains the players we would see crazy injuries. This was before the season started. The amount of injuries this team has suffered is unimaginable and that falls squarely on the training staff. ****, we've seen 3 guys get injured BEFORE the game this year. I have resisted up until this game, but I am getting on the fire Feld train after this week.I forgot about Feld, I'd lean towards firing him too due to injuries but i just don't know enough about who is responsible for that to say i would for sure. One thing is true, Oregon had a massive number of injuries last year (and possibly before that too) and now Miami has a massive amount after they came here....it's not a coincidence that it followed them here. It's apparent that either the practices are too TuFf or Feld isn't doing his job, or it's some other factor i don't know about. Either way, it's massively concerning as it relates to players' health.
This is what holds this program back the most in my opinion. This team has had low football IQ for a long time. We have dumb penalties, poor tackling, hit the wrong gaps, run the wrong routes. Trying eradicate that takes time that unfortunately at this level of college football isn’t always given (rightfully so, a ton of money involved). Those problems are compounded by meh coaching and a meh roster. Ironically enough both overrated on paper. This off-season we’ll need to see the biggest improvement in all these areas. We need a roster purge, better coaches, and a huge emphasis on football principals. The called-back INT in the end zone sums up this program for me. Guy picks it off, obviously should down it, but says "**** the team I'm getting my run-back" and makes it (barely) to the 1 yard line. They talk about football IQ? Well, it and discipline are non-existent in this program.
Anybody got a clip of it?There was nothing more upsetting than Gattis being on the sideline being fake gangsta.
why does everyone assume that would be his choice? I'd bet he will have better offers. He's got an agent to help him, tooIf I’m TVD I’m not demanding this but I would tell Mario if Gattis stays I’m going to SMU and playing frost Lashlee. Can’t keep Gattis is stinks like a backed up toilet
Dude, why do you think that OC’s declined him? This is NOT rocket science.Fire Gattis- you still need coaches on the field in practice teaching these kids!
No coach is worse as you never want the kids running the show.
We are 3 weeks away from him cutting the dead weight.
The bigger concern would be WHY did many OCs decline Mario last year that he ended up with Gattis. Can he find a better fit this time?
History doesn't repeat itself but it sure does rhyme: Shannon=Nix, Golden=D'no, Richt=Jr, Manny=Enos, Mario=Gattis.
Of all the prior coaches, Mario has a few big things in his favor. 1. HE isn't an introvert like Shannon with a limited coaching circle. 2. HE will address coaching issues unlike Golden. 3. HE doesn't have health issues like Richt and is younger. 4. HE won't let the kids run the show like Manny. 5. HE can recruit better than all of them combined and has Ruiz to help.
