Too many issues to count

Agree with the firing part.

Ponce’s scheme is nothing like Gattis’s (see film from App St last season), there is no time for players to learn and change schemes at this point in the season. Ponce could be judged on his rhythm and feel for playing calling with what the players currently know for offense with room for maybe some small additions and philosophy adjustments by him. It’s definitely better than staying with Gattis and at least seeing if Ponce can bring some positive influence to the offense. Right now I’m not sure if he can be evaluated fairly as a QB coach trying to teach another philosophy and scheme that is different from what he knows and possibly believes would work with our current offensive personnel.
This is why i‘m not hard on Ponce. He’s being asked to coach something that he’s not educated in. It’s not his scheme / philosophy. The staff was thrown together like a fantasy football team rather than matching personalities / philosophies. I was always confused by that.

U r correct but ponce may be able to call Gattis plays better just by going up tempo like he did there. There has to be more spread and shotgun sets he likes. I like Ponce for OC but if I could have my pick and it was guaranteed he would come I would hire Mullen

I‘m not coming in here and wasting my time and yours posting the same ole drivel about breakdowns, pro’s & cons , who stood out and how I’m feeling as a fan. Nobody wants to read that and tbh I don’t feel like writing it. The game was what it was and so is the season. I’m over it all and I have no emotion about it either way. Nothing was shocking last night and that’s why it was easy for me to turn it off in the third quarter, as if I’ve been watching a bad movie. No anger , sadness or embarrassment. Just another horrible performance on a Saturday. Oh well.

This thread is more about the longterm health of the program and the countless issues staring it in the face . I’m going to make this short and sweet with no sugarcoating.

First and foremost this staff needs changes. Multiple coaches HAVE TO BE GONE!! If not the class will lose guys and current recruits will give Miami no shot. Program changing type recruits Including guys committed. That’s not opinion , that’s purely fact. Nobody wants to play for some of these coaches or their scheme.

We have of a staff of individuals instead of a staff. Coaches that care more about their ego, protecting their brand and moving up in coaching circles versus actually teaching and building relationships. Coaches that came here because they were butthurt at their other job, or had issues with their previous HC’s. When you have coaches leaking crap out or giving quotes throwing players under the bus to cover your own *** you lose the position room. Trust and respect go a long way in coaching and we lack that as a staff. This is far more than horrible coaching , it goes all the way down to recruiting. There’s only a few guys carrying the water and others that think just by showing up to the games everything is Gucci. “You‘ve been recruited , I’ve done my part“ lol.

Yes we have a bad culture , quitters on the roster and lack talent but the issues are much bigger than that. It’s much deeper. There’s toxicity every where and the on field product shows. Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.
The fact that at the very least Gattis hasn’t already been fired is another huge red flag for me. Great head coaches don’t give a fugg about feelings, they cut the chord when they need to and move on, knowing that their number 1 job is to win games and develop the players.

Mario’s refusal to do so is alarming. Corches and coordinators are being fired all across CFB. Even ole Mack Brown fired Manny at Texas a day after his defense was blasted on national TV and embarrassed. Not being able to analyze things in a timely manner and cut dead eight is deeply troubling.

Successful managers/CEO’s usually have the ability to identify and assess failure quickly, and the tools to usually make changes that will quickly improve an organization.

Mario’s tendency to overthink things is showing up in everything not recruiting related. It’s not rocket science. Hire a modern day OC and DC that run innovative schemes, and let them bring their own staffs and get out of the way.

Without naming names can you give us a number of coaches not safe?
I'd go with 2: Addae & Gattis

You can add everyone on the O side as not safe.
You can add anyone on the D side that isn't willing to work almost as hard as Mario. Not sure who outside of Addae but I'm guessing 1-2 on D are not interested in the GRIND needed to turn this ship around.

For all the defensive off-field coaching talent we brought in, I'm shocked at how little off-field coaching talent we have on the offensive side.
Almost every position on D is 2-3 deep with potential coaches.
Almost every position on O has no one behind them.

“Dream Team” turning into a bit of a nightmare.

The weirdest thing to me about Mario is when all this bad going on and mistakes he’s too calm. No fire and doesn’t lose it on any of these kids. LITE A ******* FIRE UNDER THIER ASSES
If you’ve lost trust and respect in the coach/player relationship this does nothing. Roster needs an overhaul and certain staff need to go. It’s that simple.

If we fire Gattis today, who coaches WR? Do we ask Field to double as TE/WR? Ponce goes from QB to OC? Can Mirabal help with TEs? Can we get some alum to come in for the last month to help on O and not cause more problems?

The bigger issue I want to be addressed is the depth of the off-field staff for offense! There is no way Miami should have 15 D-minded off-field guys with 5 on-field guys AND only 5 on-field guys for O.
