Tom Herman to FAU

Win/win. Herman can replicate the Houston situation exactly. All the kids that UCF and USF would have gotten will now take a hard look at FAU. He gets to be the boss, will leave for a playoff contender in 3 years like Kiffin.

FAU has done a pretty nice job in the last decade. Got a good on-campus stadium built for that type of program and has at least tried hard in their coach searches/hires. It's definitely not a bad spot for those 2 and 3 star type kids that either want to stay in South Florida or might want to spend their college years here as an out-of-state QB or something.

He was also a candidate for Cincinnati which is the top G5 job. Guess he withdrew because he didn’t want to risk losing FAU
Technically Cincy is a P5 job now. Big 12 in 2023. Seems like FAU/USF are the two best G5 jobs in the country this go around.

agree, FAU a really tough place to win. His hoping to follow what Lane did
It aint actually.

All you have to do is truly recruit...in the conferences they are in you can win with 3rd and 4th tier s.fla kids....Its just that they didnt go national too much...but with Lane and now Herman they probably can develop recruiting bases outside of S.fla. Its how MaRIO won at FIU...his team iwth 3rd n 4th tier guys were better than the rest of the conference...even though he still couldnt beat fau then either lol
