Thoughts on USF game after rewatch

Or it is coaching because Schott did not have as good a week in practice as Gilbert who played and had a nice catch and run.
Playing time must be earned, not given. And Mario is creating a culture that young guys have to practice well in order to play game reps. The game is the reward for practice. What Schott did against BC in mop up time is meaningless as to whether he should play against USF, and UF. This is actual COACHING, and roster depth gives coaches the luxury to do this.

But to just assume that coaches made a mistake by not playing someone who deserved to play reads like someone who has a narrative and needs an excuse to present the narrative.

Now if you have some info that Schott had a great week of practice and the coach still didn’t play him, then tell us. Otherwise, your speculation is unwarranted.
Mario has preached from the get go that playing time is EARNED and it doesn’t matter if the player is a freshman or a 6th year senior.

But we still have people acting like the coaches have favorites, or are just too incompetent to recognize who should be playing. As opposed to CIS posters who know better than the paid professionals who like to keep their high paying jobs.

You have to have some designed runs or options for the QB to keep the ball when the d-end crashes down. In fact in the ND game there were 2-3 times that had Beck kept the ball we would have had a lot more success than handing it off.
And it keeps d-ends honest which means one less defender when we do hand it off.

It doesn’t need to be 10 times per game, but 1-3 is absolutely warranted.
Ok, but just bail when you've gotten the no contact yards. Just not worth it.

@DMoney I know you can't get into specifics. So I will try to ask it this way. In your opinion, in regards to JoJo, is he being held out more as precautionary and could play if it was desperation necessary? Or is the progression of recovery still not where we would like to see it? Hoping the former because the floor of the WR room has been elevated and we have so many contributors right now they are giving JoJo more time to heal up so no re-aggravations.

Sorry if you mentioned it before somewhere on the board and I missed it.

Lots and lots of CIS football “experts” when in reality there are but just a few that know what’s happening both on and off the field.

I’m not worried about intensity the next two weeks. But if we handle UF & FSU, we could be knocking on the door of a #1 ranking. What worries me is a week off and then a Friday night game vs Louisville. That’s the game I’m circling the back half of the season. If we win that, I don’t think we lose in the regular season.
I was just about to post this. Wins over UF and FSU should put Miami #1. The Louisville game on Friday could be trouble. Win that one, whether by 1 or 20 points and I see a perfect season. But hey, it's a long season and anything can and will happen (hopefully good things for Miami)

Appreciate the write up, the constant quality content, and overall site... Apologies if missed: has there been an injury status and update for this week's upcoming game for CJ?

but that game is here, which can provide some insurance from a let down.

At least slide. I don't want Beck lowering his shoulder.

After this game, I am seeing them setting things up intentionally. They added more plays to other WR's. They added a few more formations, sets this game. I haven't rewatched the game, but I am thinking we ran the B gap a little more. Adding Beck's designed runs. Intentionally giving Billy more to defend and setting up some twists on these plays. Do we finally add TE passing this week to give FSU more to look at? I now like what we are doing this.
A gap runs = 12 attempts, 3 1sts
B gap runs = 4 attempts, 0 1sts
C gap runs = 4 attempts, 2 1sts
D GAP runs = 15 attempts, 7 1sts

"...This team is different because we're good enough to win the same way every week. It's the same boring formula we saw during the Saban dynasties. Clean pockets. Power running. Good decisions in the passing game. Knockback on the defensive line. Physicality at every position, from receivers blocking on the perimeter to corners getting off blocks and tackling. This team doesn't have depth like a Saban team, but it plays a similar way..."
