Thomas Brown to join staff

He will be CO-OC with McClendon.

Lilly will be assistant HC.

Looks like each will make 600k.....total is $1.2 for offensive coordinators.

We have a 5 mil budget.....plenty of $.

You've been hitting at a .9998 rate these last few weeks.
Can you share some stock tips too?

But Richt has no pull

Suckers
Offering a 29 year old dude with limited coaching experience a $600k salary and co-OC title versus the likely $300k and RB coach title at UGA isn't really "pull". He's getting a huge raise and big upgrade in job title.

That seems to be the nature of the college football landscape these days.
Lots of coaches getting overpaid.
Didn't Kehoe allegely doubled his salary when he took the Ole P!ss gig?
And that was after he was canned at UM.

"I am told he is getting a Co-Coordinator title and a salary around or above 600K with a 3 year deal at Miami with CMR
That is a MONSTER deal for Brown.
Great Coach, Great person
There will be a lot of people in line to coach RB's at UGA can bet that.."

600K for a glorified recruiter is a huge waste of money. Instead of worrying about getting his ex players paid, he should have spent that cash on Don Brown.

You are truly an imbecile.

Would DB be a bad hire?

watch video of brown. its night and day from ice as far as coaching the position

This is a pretty long thread when the only staff hire of significant consequence has yet to be made. Now if Richt "promotes" someone into our DC spot then I expect at least 25 pages. For now I'm cool with Richt & Brown > Coley & Ice. Look at it this way too, if we're gonna substantially pay a glorified RB's coach then we sure as **** should be able to pay a legit DC.

I agree. If Brown is coming to coach RBs, that sounds great; if he has any additional titles, it would be a bit.....puzzling....

RB position is fine but not a huge salary and CO-OC position. Hopefully it's the former.

Have to use our resources and money wisely. Will wait and see how this shakes out. DC is obviously the huge hire.

"Mark Richt sucks because he's going to hire assistant coaches he is familiar with and did not hire a 60 year old guy I had never heard of until two months ago. I have to change my coach-worshipping screen name now."

What has Mark Richt won in his career to justify bringing in all his former players from a job he was ****-canned at?

When have you won jack shiat?

Oh wait you never?

Then why the Fughk are your even talking chiat again?

Oh wait you say because you ****** is bleeding again and your life is miserable?

Then go buy the biggest box of tampons (super flow) and put all can fit in your mouth and then stick the rest up your nose and then go to sleep. When you wake up our problem will be solved and we can be rid of these Miami posers.

Look at the rage here of this porster. Ya'll sound like the typical millennial who wants to control the message and have a safe zone from all criticism and "mean" talk.

Or maybe you know deep down that Mark Richt isn't suddenly going to transform into an elite HC without an elite staff?

That should be the concern.

BTW, who were you formally known as?

If I told you that we would be hiring a RB coach from a Power 5 job who worked with two running backs who were NFL draft picks most people on this forum would have been cool with that. The fact that Brown has a past relationship with Richt is merely tangential.

I want to see who Richt hires for DC before crowning/ripping him. Let's hope he hires a savage like Aranda.

I'm cool with Brown.

I'm not cool with the support staff guy as ST coach, AND McLendon, AND Richt's kids.

i don't see the issue with a co/oc title. richt is calling plays its just a title. thomas brown has coached at other places also like wisconsin and done a solid job as a rb's coach u can't get a better choice. co/oc is just a title period at miami. i expect either lilly or mclendon to get co/oc also.

before *****ing we didn't get brown lets see who we end up with at dc. we have no clue who richt is even looking at. we don't know if kevin steele is an option , we don't know if some other dc is an option or if he is gonna just hire willie martinez or someone else as dc. we don't k now thats the problem with *****ing about a coach not being hired.

im not blindly follow richt but the thomas brown hire the guy they are giving special teams coordinator job to aren't bad hires the biggest hire for miami is on d side. richt can hire his whole georgia staff for positions if he wants on offense for all i care.

im not gonna be all up in arms we didnt hire don brown as dc and im not gonna get up in arms about who our dc is until i actually know who he hires. *****ing about a dc hire actiling like those supporting richt are blindly following isn't true.

we don't know who the dc is gonna be so we don't just make a snap judgement taht richt has already failed at that part of his job. same with recruiting. i still think most of the *****ers are just butch davis fans who wanted him back as hc and are upset he didn't get job.

one more thing the people who wanted butch back are same people wanted him fired in 1998, its funny how that worked once coker won a title with butch's players.

Absolutely not. He was my number one choice for DC. This hire has nothing to do with Don Brown.

Wait you guys thought Richt was going to hire some all star coaching staff and then turn into Nick Saban or Harbaugh? Lol. Richt has been doing this a long time and he is what he is. Let's hope he can get over the hump at Miami.

I think most here would like to see to complete staff before jumping to any conclusions & getting concerned. As mentioned, this is an RB coach. He's here to recruit, and has coached some good backs. It's not that big if a deal to go overboard.

Also, you are questioning Richts credentials. So, what have you done to justify that you are better at evaluating coaches for HIS staff?

Ok my question would be how exactly he will get over the hump? Like people assume bc he is wearing orange and green it will just "happen".

Additionally, all we heard for weeks is how we were going to spend on an elite staff. "Huge budget". "500 texts".

If Smart tried to retain him, than that indicates the guy has something to offer. I think a good mix of young and mature coaches is good. It lets you have excitement and experience. It allows you to recruit young guys and their parents.............I know that the new staff will NOT be worse than the last one.

Is the objective to "not be worse" or is it to be the U again and win titles?????

Todd Hartley coached special teams for 4 years at Marshall. He coached TEs for his last two years there after coaching safeties the two years before.
