Offering a 29 year old dude with limited coaching experience a $600k salary and co-OC title versus the likely $300k and RB coach title at UGA isn't really "pull". He's getting a huge raise and big upgrade in job title.
That seems to be the nature of the college football landscape these days.
Lots of coaches getting overpaid.
Didn't Kehoe allegely doubled his salary when he took the Ole P!ss gig?
And that was after he was canned at UM.
I've got no problem with UM acquiring the reputation of overpaying coaches, but to suggest that Richt "pulled" a kid with four years of experience by doubling his salary and giving him a promotion is disingenuous and reeks of unnecessary deification.
I hear ya.
At this point I just want to see the staff in its entirety before passing judgement.
Especially the DC and OL coaches.
I am not getting some of reactions thus far from some folks.
RB coach is a recruiting position. If Brown is a great recruiter, then this is a good hire. If he isn't an insanely effective recruiter, then we overpaid to hire a kid that Richt likes.
I don't know enough about who Brown recruited and how good of a recruiter he is to comment on how good or bad this hire is. Guys claiming it's s great hire because he had the good fortune to be on a staff where guys like Gordon and Chubb played are retarded men.
We'll find out what kind of recruiter he is right away when it comes time to poach some of those UGA commits in a few days.
