If our backs reach elite status, we dont lose this year. I dont see elite from last year, but I cant judge anybody under last regime. Homer is my favorite RB on team followed by Yearby. Very interested to see Yearby after transforming his body.

My fault, I didn't read the whole quote and context of it. Payton didn't make ppl miss; he actually wanted to punish ppl and used that forearm to power through tacklers. He looked for contact. Sanders, Sayers, and Imma say Marcus was about that "making ppl miss" life.

Maybe he has a different definition of elite. To me, an elite RB is basically a game changer who can win individual battles in the 3-4 critical games in a season where there's relatively equal talent on the field.

I think we have 3 of those guys on offense.
I think we have up to 7 of those guys on defense.

Or Jamal Carter he has shown he can deliver big hits. Even made cook fumble in the 4th last year and hurt his shoulder that's been nagging cook this offseason.

Lets clear something up here...lol
Walton is not young. He reclassified because he should have been in that class, and if he did not would not have played a full year the next yr. He was in the process of using 5 yrs to finish high school until he put it in gear in the classroom. Do not remember it exactly, but I believe that was the reason for the reclassification.

Dwins, how exactly is McCloud the hardest hitter? I have never even seen the kid play a college game. However, the previous guys mentioned have shown us that they can hit. Not trying to pick on you or McCloud but that one kinda came from left field.

Please lets not compare Gus to Eddie George, Gus is NOT Eddie George. He will not even have the opportunity to put up Eddie George numbers. I like Gus, I think he will do much better then the SoFla nut huggers on these boards. But I also think he still has a lot to prove, and he does seem to get smashed by MLB's lol

Don't get hung up on the Eddie George that you know of today. The question by blackvern was "Somebody please show me an elite RB that averages 3.5 yards a carry in the history of college football... Somebody show me and I'll shut up", which he was wrong about the average per carry stat. What I provided was an elite RB, with his size and in his situation at this point in his career. Eddie George was not regarded as elite at this point in his career. This is simply an apples to apples comparison, an average back at the time who turned elite during the second half of collegiate career.

Secondly, we have to agree that no matter which era is coaching, Golden or Richt, they both regard Gus as a RB that can play at a very high-level in his collegiate career. With that said, like Eddie George, Gus has to turn on the light bulb and transition what he's learned in practice to the game. So as Eddie has proven at this point in his career reps will make a difference. Now will he accomplish everything that Eddie George did the second half of his career? Who know's? It's probably unlikely because we will have a RB by committee. But if any of these RB's prove that they can dominate a game I'm sure Richt will feature that back.

So again, don't get hung up on the Eddie George that you think of today because like Eddie most greats weren't regarded as such at some point in their career.

Elite doesn't mean best player in the conference or nation, I think. That's an entirely separate level for guys like Cook and Watson. I think we only have 1 guy at that level.

To me if you make big time plays in big games your elite and corn does that. Yall get caught up in weight room numbers and 40 yard dashes but some kids just do it in the game. Elder does that. If im looking for a big play in a game Elder and Kaaya are my top two guys. That's what makes them elite to me.

Our backs are pretty good but not great backs. Homer included.

We are sorely in need of studs at the RB spot. The guys in this upcoming class must be hits.

As far as homer goes, if he was a superstar in the making you would have heard the rumors of great plays in practice and the praise from coaches already. RB is a position where the stars show their stuff early on.
