Thomas Brown says we have two "elite" backs...maybe three

Maybe he has a different definition of elite. To me, an elite RB is basically a game changer who can win individual battles in the 3-4 critical games in a season where there's relatively equal talent on the field.

I think we have 3 of those guys on offense.
I think we have up to 7 of those guys on defense.

There are only a few elite backs in college football cook, fournette, McCaffery, Chubb and a few others. While we may not have an alpha male with elite speed in the backfield we DO have an elite group depth wise. There are not more than 15 programs that are as good as Miami is talent wise 1-4 Walton, yearby, Edwards, homer IMO

Very very interested to see what they get out of Walton this year.

Isn't he a year younger than most of his classmates?

That kid is still going through physical maturation.

The blessings of Richt's incorporation of the power running game is that you make the reads very easy for the running back. That should get Mark Walton going downhill behind Marquez...who will probably be everybody's favorite player

We had a RB by committee last year - and probably will have the same this year. I don't disagree with that whatsoever with the beating those guys take (and its in their best interest for extending their careers.) It just makes it difficult to call a RB elite when you don't have a full diagnosis. Compare the Duke for instance. He had one year sharing carries but then he was the man. If these guys are going to split carries as much as I think - I don't think it will be a fair judgment whether they are elite or not. I would like to have seen Walton or Yearby as the premier guy this year just to be able to make that opinion - but that's impossible when we have 2-3 guys that deserve their share.

Walton looks fast n in better shape we forget that he spose to be a fresh. Kids young and i have a feeling he will kill it .

My fault jerz already mentioned it but hes right

I agree 100% easy to see

/ Lol but i guess Coach Macho "knows more" than Coach Brown

Our top two RB are, talent wise, top 12 in CFB. Yearby has flashed - both years, and didn't play to his strengths last year due to coaching. He was a top 50 national recruit and Walton was a top 100 guy. Wilton's yards per carry don't reflect his TAPE. Look at his FILM and lots of the holding calls didn't effect his running lanes. You can't name more than 11 other teams with more talent at RB1 and RB2.

The O Line looks to be primed to take a step forward considering the coaching and strength work this off season. This group is also talented in terms of potential - it just hasn't proved it yet.

Also, tired of this bullsht about our talent v the rest of the ACC. Aside from Clemson and FSU, we are more talented than any team in the ACC. There is no excuse to lose to any coastal team because we are overmatched physically.

Yearby was a top 5 RB IN his class lets not forget

If our backs reach elite status, we dont lose this year. I dont see elite from last year, but I cant judge anybody under last regime. Homer is my favorite RB on team followed by Yearby. Very interested to see Yearby after transforming his body.

Lol elite backs are avg when they run behind tubs of lard! I am pretty sure its still consider a team sport.

Barry Sanders became a HOF running back playing for the LIONS. Worst line in history.

Sick of this crap when Joe Year runs for over a thousand yards behind that offensive line..This year by the forth and fifth game we'll be passing to set up the run instead of the opposite...
