Thomas Brown on the future of Miami Hurricanes’ offense

He wouldn't get drafted though. 1k season, they don't mean squat with as many games as there are these days. Family to feed, he better get that degree as that's his future in all likelihood.

This Yearby stuff is hysterical. You're kidding about the draft, right? I mean surely you are?

Grad transfer is a possibility, but Walton isn't pushing anyone out....at least not to my eyes. Neither is Gus after just one game.

My main point is.. what benefit does Yearby have in staying another year outside of getting a degree? Is he going to shape himself into an NFL starter? He doesn't have to prove any scouts wrong about injury concerns, doesn't have to prove he can pass protect, doesn't have to show route running. He is what he is, an average RB that is just solid in every area of his game but elite at nothing.

He has 2 kids, probably time to think about the risk involved with coming back another year and getting hurt, beat out, having a bad season, etc. Lots of NFL teams are shuffling for RBs that can do what he does and the going rate is a couple million a year, or at worst league minimum third stringer. Probably better off for him and his kids. You'd be surprised how far being able to pick up at blitz and catching a football out of the backfield will take an average RB.

He'd be playing for a team like the Packers, Chargers, etc that need scat backs right now.

If Yearby and Gus leave, we will be short on RB numbers real quick. We need 1 of the two at the least to stay.

You really see all 3 of those RB's sharing the backfield again next year? Yearby has a resume good enough to get looks from the NFL. It's very unlikely he could improve his stock by staying a year. Most importantly he's got kids to feed. It's not about getting pushed out it's just a good business decision imo.

Yeah yearby is who he is. He can be a playmaker but is physically limited in terms of speed. But everything else he is really good at

MJ, running backs like him at his current state of development are a dime a dozen. His focus better be school as he'd be at best, an UDFA. So his best bet is his degree, no disrespect, just the cold hard truth.

66 running backs last year posted a thousand yard season. It isn't the stat it was when there were fewer games years back.

Again, what's resume stuff? Do you guys even watch other teams?

The running game isn't what I'm talking about.. it helps but the intangibles such as pass blocking, pass catching, and UVA was his first fumble in idk how long I honestly don't remember another. He'd be an asset to many NFL teams at this moment. I.e Danny Woodhead, Theo Riddick, Dujuan Harris, Devonta Freeman

Going to be a lot of GMs trying to find the next Melvin Gordon. Yearby isn't him, but some superstar personnel savant is going to convince himself he is.

Melvin Gordon's production isn't even comparable to Yearby. Gordon was one of the best backs in the country 2 years ago. Yearby can't even beat out Walton and is now losing carries to Gus.

Honestly, what's the deal with Gray? He was supposed to be the best athlete here in the past decade. Can he not learn the playbook?

Not a true RB. He's exactly what you said... an athlete. RB isn't the easiest position to play, especially in a prostyle offense where you're asked to pass block.

But if that were it, wouldn't at least one of the last 2 staffs have found a way to get him the ball? Thin as we are in other spots, it seems like there's got to be more to it than not being a natural RB.

I really hope they don't move Homer to CB. He's going to be a stud at RB. He has a ridiculous build for a RB. He plays very physically. And, he's by far the fastest RB on the roster. We'all find out what kind of instincts he's got, but he's the most physically talented RB on the team.

* Brown admitted he’s kicking himself for not playing Gus Edwards more. “He’s been frustrated a bunch, and I get it,” he said. “In my opinion, I probably should have played him more. … He’s been consistent, worked his butt off.” Brown raised eyebrows by saying one of Edwards’ strengths is “running behind his pads”

If Javaris James can play in the NFL, so can Joe. He is prolly gone this year. Good luck to him.

Just rampant stupidity in this thread.

So people are having our 3-star backups transfer, or leave for other schools, or prematurely enter the draft, as if we have a conveyor belt of running backs ... and injuries, suspensions, screwups and other unplanned events don't happen.

Brains as soft as mush in this group.

Go to the Bama boards, where instead of 3-stars, they have 4-5 stars in the 3-deep or deeper, and get them to transfer out or otherwise leave while you're at it.

Just stupid.
