This is on Richt

So you're actually a fan of Miami AND Richt? Jesus Christ I thought you were trolling with your battered wive syndrome defending of Richt'Onfrio.

Exactly. If someone doesn't want Richt fired YESTERDAY, they must be trolling. You have the most rational stance here.

In a perfect world, Richt is fired. Yet I can understand people looking at this pragmatically and understanding he can't be fired. But people quick to defend Golden... I mean Richt... must be trolling. Except for you apparently.

Yes, you have it figured out. If Richt didn't win with this loaded roster RIGHT NOW, then he gotta go.

Forget winning, how about scoring 22 points?

He's clearly incapable of doing it so far so some signs of improvement on his part would mean something, yes.

Even with a bottom of the barrel standard Richt sucks.

So Richt is literally one of the worst coaches in America. I think I'm understanding now.

No one on this site will ever, ever be satisfied with the coach at The U. Let's give this coach 2 years and then lets blow him up if he sucks. The product on the field is garbage and I don't care if we were in the top 25 in recruiting for the last 10 years. Its about a system and the type of player that is needed to compete in this system sucks. Evident Golden picked up anyone since the very talented player from South Florida avoided Golden like Zika.

Yes, Richt needs to do a better job calling plays, Kayaa needs to improve, but you cannot blame the OL, RB, secondary on Richt. If 2017 is the same, we start calling for his head. I am so depressed and upset, since I have season tickets and the majority of fans on this site just complain and don's support ****. It will be intyeresting how many fans coming to Hard Rock to support and not stay home to ***** on this site.

Ready for the negative scores I will receive from this post, but I believe The U will rise and, but patience is needed with Richt!

im a canes fan for life. i support the team. i just cant stand sloppy play, lack of execution and what seems to be lack of heart/desire/fire. duke johnson type of fire.

Every game is on the HC - win or lose.

Get it done.

Second week in a row we come out completely unprepared. Brain-dead penalties, running into 8-man fronts, inexplicably bad special teams, outmanned by a physically inferior team. This is really discouraging.

Fine, all games are on Richt, but can we agree the offensive personnel has been absurdly overrated? Let's get real:
(1) Kaaya is just okay. Fairly smart, good arm and accuracy, but inconsistent, sometimes erratic, virtually immobile and slower than most o-linemen (5.5 forty, yikes!). Who can honestly say they want a tight game on his shoulders with 2 min left? It's a shame he never really "earned" the spot, he'd be better having faced real competition, even a RS. He sometimes reminds me of a better-coached version of KW.
(2) Gaping hole at RB. We have NO back on the roster who can consistently gain 2-3 yards when the defense knows we want to run. Our backs are shifty, scat-types. We simply can't "pound the rock" when we need/want to. Richt has to rely on (often unsuccessfully) clever schemes to covert/score. We need a Duke, Gore, Miller, Davenport, Edge, type of back...Fact is, we're suffering mightily for recruiting misses such as Collins, Scarlett, etc.
(3) OL is just not good enough. No surprise, so really not an issue of being overrated, but another important personnel problem adding to Richt's heartburn.
(4) Receivers are not amazing. The veteran, Stacy Coley has all the tools but continues to underachieve (sloppy hands, sometimes disappears, whines about little aches and pains). Berrios is just okay, and excluding AR (a future star but just a freshman), the rest are arguably not "Miami-caliber".
(5) TEs are the best unit on O. They're very good (two are future NFLers), but not elite (can't carry the team). Unfortunately, the combination of (1) and (3) limit their impact.

A good coach can win tight games with any one (even two), of these issues (e.g. Kaaya could win with the right surrounding talent), but the combination of all of them is a serious problem. This team is just not there yet. Richt may be accountable, but its hard to expect much improvement until more of these holes get filled.

THIS THIS AND THIS!

Interesting that people are blaming Kaaya solely when:

1. He's getting hit, hurried, or sacked on about 35 of 48 dropbacks
2. We want him to get rid of the ball quickly, but we have slow developing routes. Palmer even alluded that our receivers are not looking back for the catch while Kaaya is getting hit
3. When we do get the ball out quickly, it works....really well. But seldomly run these quick hitters.
4. Oh by the way, we lead all power five in drop percentage.

It's Kaaya, it's the receivers, it's the O-Line, it's the playcalling. It's the entire offense as a whole. It's the execution, period. That's on Richt and his offensive staff. It just seems like we don't have the offense that plays to our strengths. We have a 280 lb bulldozer at FB and we fail to use him. We have an immobile QB, but try to run a RPO. We have a sure-handed, ultra utility TE in Herndon but call his number seldomly. Our speed guys aren't given much to work with with longer routes. We have a weak OL but fail to get the ball out of our QBs hands quickly. OH, did I mention, why the **** we don't run behind our FB more often?

There's only two people on offense I can't knock, and that's Yearby and Herndon.

I like Richt, but a teams personality reflects the coach. Our d is legit, depth is starting to show curtesy of the absolute zero who ran the show the last 5yrs. Our O is soft, no if ands or buts about that. Richt needs to fix that. I don't just mean OL. It's the whole group. Say what you want about Butch, but his teams weren't soft. This needs to change. Richt needs a Gary Stevens type OC that is creative, but a demanding hardass at the same time. Either that or Richt needs to become that guy and let OC/QB coaches be the players friends/confidants. My $.02. Return to your previously scheduled sky is falling **** show.

Go Canes!

Lmfao. Do you think we can fly the banner from the bandwagon? OBVIOUSLY it's Richt's fault Kaaya was sacked 8 times & hit or pressured 13 more.... jeezus christ

I still believe in Richt and this staff. We're only 7 games in. But as a fan, I'm discouraged.

On the very first play against UNC, Malcolm Lewis made the dumbest play of the year in a must-win game. After a missed XP cost us the FSU game, we responded by missing a chip-shot FG against UNC and another XP against VTech. We run into stacked boxes and throw when it's cover 2 man. It seems like we're always against the numbers. We went from 25th in sack percentage to 81st with the same players. I can't blame all of that on talent or lack of depth.

We've shown a lot of good things. Hopefully, we beat Notre Dame and get some positive momentum going on offense. There is still a ton of season left for this team to get better.

I agree the whole game plan vs VT was awful. The O coaching was especially bad but Diaz and Kool hardly did a good job either.

Great post, 100% spot on.
