This is on Richt

I agree the whole game plan vs VT was awful. The O coaching was especially bad but Diaz and Kool hardly did a good job either.

It's hard to criticize Diaz when you take into account his side of the ball has less talent right now than the offensive side...plus the D has been absolute ravaged by injuries.

All things considered Diaz has been a breath of fresh air. His aggressive approach is a step in the right direction.

Now if only Richt could hold up his end of the deal on offense. I swear if you removed the names from the conversation I'd bet everything I owned that the coordinator on offense was the younger, more inexperienced coach. Instead the reality is that the guy with 20+ years of coaching experience is absolutely stinking up the joint with some of the worst play calling and offensive game planning in the history of the program.

Diaz is the least of our problems. Worry about the OC.

Second week in a row we come out completely unprepared. Brain-dead penalties, running into 8-man fronts, inexplicably bad special teams, outmanned by a physically inferior team. This is really discouraging.

when you hire someone that another program fired for many years of failure to meet expectations, why is anyone surprised that you get only more of the same ? Butch Davis was the right man.

His record against ranked opponents worried me from the get-go. I still think he can do well here as a HEAD COACH...but this infatuation with play calling is going to end up ruining his tenure here if he doesn't wake the **** up soon and let it go.

My fear is that he will hire a like-minded offensive coach to call plays. That would not be a prudent decision. In hindsight, no wonder every south Florida reporter had their own "insider piece" on Marquez Williams. Coaches knew they had to feed that narrative to the SoFla "reporters" to get everyone on board with running the I form and running behind the guards approach. Lol.

Well part of being a good coach is surrounding yourself with good coaches.

He can't call plays for ****...so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he at least knows how to pick coordinators. He did good with Diaz....now we just need something competent on the offensive side of the ball.

I don't blame the coaches for Badgley yakking that XP. We blocked another kick, and the coverage units have been good all year. I didn't see a big problem with specials last night.

The XP was on my mind because it's repeated mistakes. We've missed XPs or chipshots three weeks in a row, and it's always a different part of the operation that's off (or several at the same time). That's just poor execution because Badgley is a faqqott who should never be allowed near a real football team that isn't in Euorpe.

I concur.

Wow. Five guys. Phenomenal post if we're talking about tennis or basketball. Whatcha got there, one RB and one WR? And we're supposed to be competing for championships with that?

If only we had 22 NFL starters instead of 15, we could win the ACC Coastal.

We've seen the story for a decade now. Fans blame the players instead of the coaches. Five years later, the players' careers are thriving while the coaches are coaching at the Kendall Boys and Girls Club.

I know a guy who can do just that. Even better!

I'll give you one guess................

I think it's actually a simple fix. I like Richt the head coach. I don't like Richt the OC. College football is too hard for him to be shaking a decade of rust off as an OC during the season. The play calling is not letting the offense sustain any rhythm. Get a top flight OC and I think a lot of the offense problems are taken care of

So you're in every thread going to war with guys who are suggesting what you just suggested here? You guys are infatuated with arguing.

Spot on.

What I find so weird is that we all knew that coach Richt was a very good play caller at FSU and his time calling the plays at UGA. I spoke to a friend who is a die hard UGA fan, who was happy they got rid of coach Richt, and even he said that when CMR was calling plays UGA was winning and really dominate on offense. I see people talking as if CMR will never get it right just 7 games in. I think there are many factors causing the beyond horrible play calling; rust, personnel (still figuring out what he has in players), Oline, etc. This man is not the past coach(es), I think he'll get things right.

I hope you honestly don't believe he's still trying to figure out what he has in players. Smh. THAT would be even more scary

That's actually not what I'm doing. I think Richt was a phenomenal hire, he just wanted to call plays again but didn't realize he was going to struggle so much. Sucks because I think if we had a stud OC we have a 10 win season. That being said, this is year one, without a single Richt recruit on a Goldenized team. It's disappointing but I am optimistic about the future because of Richts track record of building and maintaining a major program. He might get better after reevaluating between now and ND and prove he's gotten over the hump, or finish season struggling as a play caller which means I expect him to be smart enough to hire an OC. He's given up play calling duties before (even if you say they were taken from him, he was a big enough deal that he could have pushed back) You and your ilk are saying we made a bad HC decision, casting a cloud of pessimism ("oh we have to suffer for the next few years because Richt isn't going anywhere") and should have hired a guy like Herman with all of 15 HC career wins or a washed up, scandal tainted coach that not a single team in college football has wanted in the past six years in Butch Davis. I don't care for fans who want to fire the new head coach 7 games into the season and make us look like a mickey mouse fanbase to potential recruits.

Maybe Richt can cut 90% of his starting OLine like Adam Gase therefore transforming The Miami Dolphins into the second coming of Mercury Morris and Dwight Stephenson? Therefore pounding The Top 2 Dfenses in League for 250 yds rushing!

Can Gase give Richt a hand on calling plays on Saturdays we will pay OT?
