This is Mario's reality

If I am being honest, I don't believe for one second Mario will gut this staff. I also don't believe he actually thinks his approach is wrong. And I don't believe Mario will get it right. That is my stance as of today.

You know why? Mario was at Bama from 13-16. Kiffin was brought on in 14 and also there until 16. Saban had his come to Jesus moment when he brough Kiffin in and allowed his offense at Bama to finally be modernized. So Mario witnessed first hand, when the greatest coach in CFB had his come to Jesus moment. Yet, after being a part of that change, Mario has decided to stay in the stone ages. If he wasn't able to see that even the greatest CFB coach had to make that kind of change, what should make me believe anything else will?

All I have now as a fan is hope. Hope that he does wake up and realize he needs to have that moment. I don't expect it, but I hope for it.
He was here in the late 80’s, early 90’s when we were one of the most dynamic passing teams in the country. Like you said if he didn’t learn adjustments under Saban and if he didn’t have that offensive philosophy while he was playing here during arguably the schools best 4 year run then I doubt he will ever learn.

The OL is just as bad as they were last year. Actually we run the ball slightly better this year. Offensive guru Lashlee couldn't get these guys to run block either. Many of us complained and *****ed about Lashlee run game, but It wasn't his systems fault either. They just aren't good at run blocking. Players have to make plays. And maybe you should be thinking what the lack of receivers has done to TVD. Players make the plays. Answer this for me... Why is it players make so much more than coaches in the NFL???

Why don't you at least look up stats before making comments regarding better or not. We are averaging less yard per games, less per rush attempt and have less rushing td's this year compared to last. And this with TWO supposed elite OL coaches. Which makes the results INFINITELY worse.

Lack of receivers? You mean the two guys not on the team who aren't on NFL rosters either? Stop acting like we had studs at WR last year. I broke down the stats after the Virginia game. The production from our WR core this year compared to last was basically the same though 8 games. The difference was it was top heavy last year compared to this year.

The bigger question is, why does TVD look infinitely worse? Did he forgot how to play? Nope. But he now has a bum OC, with a trash scheme all approved and signed off by an massively overrated HC.

We were bottom of the barrel running the ball last year. Tvd didn't play the first part of the season. Even the great Lashlee couldn't make D'Eriq King into a good passer, so we struggled passing the ball until tvd got in so to say the production is the same through 8 games is a mute point. Those two receivers that didn't make NFL rosters were better than what we have now. That should show you how devoid of talent we are at the position. Yes he has an OC who is not good at calling plays. When you add that with the lack of talent, these are the results. Why do players in the NFL make so much more than coaches?

Last years team actually pass blocked pretty well, this years team isn’t pass blocking as well as last year. So losing Rambo and Harley, two players who weren’t even drafted is what we are missing? (It’s funny how much people bring up losing Harley and Rambo as such huge downgrades, it’s almost like saying “you know what we are missing from those early 2000 teams? Kevin Beard, Andre King and Ethnic Sands.) Osborn was drafted the year before and is actually contributing in the NFL and we had a much better offense last year in year 2 with Lashlee but the difference was Van Dyke in for King. Jacolby George, Brashard Smith and Restrepo all were really good coming down the stretch last year, yet this year they are a shell of themselves but another year older, bigger, stronger, etc.? The only difference is the change in coaches.

Mario at Oregon slander is just funny.

I wanted Lane then Feeeze then Mario was my 3rd choice. Trying to discredit what he did At Oregon is interesting take.

Imagine Oregon run game this year with that veteran OL and Dye and Benson at RB? Mario was going to be loaded maybe even more from a talent perspective had he stayed at Oregon. They would have brought in a portal QB just like they did with Brown.

Mario would have same record as Lanning Imo to this point. Lost to Georgia much closer then win other games little closer too.

He was 22-1 at home as Oregon coach, why do you think he would lose to BYU and UCLA at home? Their schedule has been cozy away from home.

He was 35-13 last 4 years, he will be fine here. His ceiling is the main question IMO.

Lanning did make a good OC hire, but Nix and KD have a history working together at Auburn so it was a see less transition.

Nix is running an offense that he is used to and comfortable in with a much better OL in front of him blocking and protecting.

I get what you're saying. I really don't know what the problem is, but at some point players just have to beat the man across from them. Coaches can't do it for them. We are not winning one on ones. 🤷🏾‍♂️

We were bottom of the barrel last year running and we are worse in all statistical categories this year. Do you not realize you are making my point?

Not only is our rushing attack worse this year, so is our pass blocking. The entire OL has regressed. I mean, how when there are supposedly two elite OL coaches here? How when we supposedly have a HC and OC who know how to implement a running game? How when we brought back 3 starters, a **** ton of experience and upperclassmen. You know how, because Gattis sucks and Mario and Mirabal are overrated.

And you bringing up Lashlee further proves my point. His running scheme was an abomination, yet this years rushing attack is worse! You are trying to defend the indefensible and failing miserbaly.

Much of CFB and the NFL isn’t about 1 on 1’s, it’s about schemes. We got destroyed by the same counter play all night long last night. You think that’s because the same players were getting outmatched on every single one of those plays or it was because Norvell figured out how to attack Steele’s vanilla defense and create mismatches? If it’s about the players and not the coaches we should send out Lance Harbor and Tweeter to coach this team instead of the worthless $16million crap we are sending out there to score 3 points in a rivalry game.

Couldn’t be more on point!!!

dude you can’t speculate what a player has going through his head that affects his talent or lack there of.. They are all D1 players, yeah some were bad *** in high school and hit their ceiling maybe. But the proof is in the pudding man!! Results!!! Wins/ losses!!!! The stats say it all!! A coaching staff could try to recruit a team this bed and couldn’t ******* do it… This is the biggest **** show I’ve ever seen at any level of football.. If Cristobal can’t find 80 million ways to score a touchdown in more than 15 out of 36 quarters of football, He needs to stop coaching.. he specializes in nothing except recruiting!! And believe it or not you gotta win to recruit more so than recruit to win!!
Well, we’re losing big time and have a top 10 recruiting class. So I’m not sure about that last sentence…

Do y'all know what generational means?? So you think Justin Herbert is a once in a lifetime qb?????
it might have been an exaggeration but Herbert is at the very least a superstar QB and has been essentially since he came in the league.
