MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

The committee’s metrics are voodoo economics. We beat ND and haven’t been ranked anywhere near them.
missouri plays oklahoma
byu plays cincy
vandy plays Tennessee
bama plays auburn

2 of those 3 realistic things happen then we're close enough to where it would be too loud of a problem to ignore

what we need as well is for oregon to beat USC as USC might jump us and ND beat them

Just disagree with me, I don’t need compliments.

What about the standard is insane? We’ve beaten one team that’ll be ranked, we lost to two unranked teams, one of them at home. Is the standard perfectly fair? Not a chance, but you get a lot farther in life by facing the reality of the deck stacked against you than complaining that the game isn’t fair.

Miami walked right back under the shadow it has created over Mario’s tenure by losing to inferior squads in the middle of the season. We were getting first place votes after beating USF, as we should have. Then you step under the shadow you constructed and embody every reasonable doubt and become just another 2 loss squad.

That is Miami’s issue: there are 8 teams just like you now. 8 teams with a case, vying for 2-3 spots. You lose just one of those games and you’re special, you’re in the playoff. Instead, you’re going to finish 4th or below in one of the worst P4 conferences. You have one very good win and two mediocre losses. You aren’t special, you aren’t Bama, you knew this, and this is why you aren’t getting in.

What’s the flaw in my argument other than you’re tired of having it?
Do rankings mean anything when the majority of the SEC ranked wins are because they have a circle-jerk in the pre-season and rank everyone in that god**** Conference so there are no bad losses?

Because other teams get the benefit of the doubt when we don’t.

There are multiple teams in front of us with worse resumes. Even with those two losses, we shouldn’t be where we are in the rankings.

The ACC is not a great conference, but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. It’s on par with the Big 12. The B1G and SEC are not what people make them out to be, either.

SMU and Louisville would win 7-8 games a year in any of these conferences. The losses would then be excused, unlike they are for us. Instead of evaluating individual teams, people paint a broad brush to push narratives about conferences. That’s what I mean by the “standard.” People act like we lost to below 500 teams.

FSU demolished Bama. No one even cares. The committee didn’t even acknowledge that as a non-conference win last week. That’s called bias.

If we win like we did yesterday the next two weeks, people need to rally around the team. We’ll be a month removed from losing to “inferior” teams. Instead of focusing our energy on that, which we have already for weeks, maybe it’s prudent to apply pressure on the media and the committee. We will have a case. Our own fans need to make it.

As it stands right now, here would be the projected outcomes by SP+ in the next two weeks, factoring in 2.5 for home field advantage. (I’m not a huge proponent of SP+, just wanted to see how it would line up)

That would put us in.

The committee has operated as XII is leaps and bounds better than the ACC all year; why would they change now?

These committee metrics you talk about:

Just look how far apart Houston will be to Utah-BYU this upcoming week while how close Miami-GT-UVA will be. It makes zero sense.

They haven’t rewarded our H2H yet and I don’t expect them to start. Still think we’re in if we win out but I’m not as confident as I once was. I agree with you that if the committee sticks to their metrics; there is no way a 10-2 Miami team is out.

We should be above Alabama and Notre Dame right now. But c’mon; those are arguably the two biggest CFB brands. Add to the fact that the Utah AD just joined the committee and will be sliming us out to get three XII teams in the mix; and it’s looking like a Bleak Vision.

We have a real uphill battle and need absolute chaos. Yesterday hurt. Other than UT/GA, we had like 0-10 games go our way with 80% of them in play until late.

You may think it’s rigged and it very well may be rigged. But not a single person outside of the Miami fan base would argue that 10-2 Miami deserves to be in over 10-2 OU and Bama. Doesn’t matter if we beat VT and Pitt 100-0. That won’t change a thing.
Maybe.. but I also think part of it is that most EVERYONE is just waiting for Miami to implode one more time and I think that is baked in right now. Now if we prove people wrong and win out and win out comvincingly, there will be people coming out of the woodwork to fight against OU AND Alabama (think fans of every other conference outside of the SEC, including the B1G).

USC beating Oregon should not matter realistically; but we don’t know what goes down in these backroom smoke filled doors.

I say it shouldn’t matter because like you mentioned we have a common opponent who we beat.

Michigan beating Ohio State could really **** up our day though. Then the B1G is in the same situation as the $€©️ w/ a multi team tiebreaker.

The LVille loss was tolerable. But to lose to SMU, who has baaaad losses on their record, was inexcusable. Mario and staff knew this and did nothing to fix the issues in the two weeks between LVille and SMU. All we got were argumentative comments from the OC…..who ironically is now running more of what some of us had been calling for weeks ago. They did this to themselves.
Maybe Mario has finally seen the light and understand that his Bro ball doesnt work. Only took a loss to SMU sadly

Big 10 would only care if USC beats Oregon. They would be lobbying against OU and Bama and Miami for their sake.

ND has the better resume that we do at the moment.

Best win is comparable: #9 at home vs #15 at home. Their losses are dramatically better: #3 and #14, instead of unranked. Their best G5 win (Navy) just beat our best G5 win (USF), and their best road win (Pitt) beat our best road win (FSU.) They're 4 spots ahead of us in SOR.

That's not close enough for the committee to use the H2H tiebreaker.

We win out and finally get a pass. I think they will make it up to us after years of injustices
The problem is who are they leaving out? Our only chance is if they throw us a bone and put us in over ND, which is likely not happening. We need an all time collapse by Oklahoma and/or Bama

I will disagree with this because why is certain teams punished for losing two games when it’s common across college football? As mentioned if you’re not a conference champion, you are a bubble team and we should use Fair selection tactics
They will not put us in over a two loss ND or Bama. It’s 100% wrong and they will do it and we should bring an anti-trust law suit for unfair competition within a monopoly. And on that note, I am merging all of y’all’s threads into one. Fight me!
