MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

WTF are we talking about??? Cheating so the ACC can put out a better team? This is what's it's come down to in college ball?
That 1 billion percent is a common occurrence in all sports. They are always gonna want the bigger markets as representatives if they in any way can make that happen they will. It's a business first and foremost. How do you as a business give yourself the best possibility to make money. That would be bigger markets and fan bases. Compelling storylines etc. if anything that **** last season showed them exactly why they should always compell the outcome.

Auburn offense has looked better since Freeze got fired. Need the defense to be as good as they've been all year except for the Vandy game.

Jordan Hare is as tough as it gets for a night game
Is it safe to say Durkin has thawed out the Auburn O?

So here's my best, "this is absolute bulls*** Notre Dame argument". Miami and Notre Dame will have played 5 similar games by the end of the season. The current results:

Notre Dame vs Miami: Miami wins head to head
NC State: Notre Dame 36-7, Miami 41-7
Syracuse: Notre Dame 70-7, Miami 38-10
Pitt: Notre Dame 37-15
Stanford: Miami 42-7

If Miami goes out and beats Pitt, let's say, 42-10 and Notre Dame beats Stanford 35-10 then that would mean Miami outperformed Notre Dame in 4 out of 5 comparable games, almost half the season. We also have a Notre Dame victory over Boise 28-7 and Miami crushed USF that beat Boise 34-7. There is PLENTY of crossover there, including a head to head matchup.

If Miami can go throttle Pitt then I think this shouldn't even be a discussion anymore. There is more than enough evidence.
They beat Navy 49-10 who is more comparable to USF

Miami or Virginia are the only locks to make the playoffs if they win out. SMU, Pitt, and Duke would likely still be behind the Sun Belt and American champs and get left out entirely.

If the conference WANTS to make something happen, they sweeten it for those 2 teams. It should be easy to do for Duke vs Wake as it will likely be close. A call or 2 probably sways it.

Gonna need Cal and VT to make things close enough just to make it possible. Even Pitt/Miami.. might as well just favor Miami because Pitt winning that game still has slim chance to make the ACCCG if SMU/UVA also win.

Seems to me they intentionally scheduled games in the order they need to fall. Miami/Pitt first. If Pitt wins, just let the chips fall for the favored teams the rest of the day. If Miami wins - Duke and Wake at 3:30 so now we know we need to orchestrate the Duke loss. Then UVA/VT at 7:30, see if VT can be in the game early - more explanatory for VT to beat UVA like they always do than Cal beating SMU....If VT can't do it, make the call to the Ref out in Berkley that we have to keep Cal in this one at 8PM.
SMU and Pitt are going to jump the American team in the top 25 this week imo (Tualne and maybe North Texas). Regardless if they win this week they will jump them before conference champ week anyways. And they certainly would jump the SECOND highest ranked which would be JMU. There is only one G5 team getting in - The winner of the American. The ONLY team that would get in over ACC champ is JMU over Duke.

Why? We lose to inferior teams now because of coordinators capable of using their brains in an already **** conference? You really feel there's that much of a difference from one **** conference to another? Only difference is usually coaches in those lesser conferences have more freedom to explore the dark sides of their minds with playcalling. That's our kryptonite. Creativity. Smu is a **** team that we dominated yet we still found a way to give that game away. Louisville anyone that knows brohm knows he's gonna entirely change up his play calling against us to exploit our perceived weaknesses. Zero reason we SHOULD'VE lost either of those games beyond typical brain farts by coaches. The fact that position coaches are supposed to take the blame for this is absurd.
Was being a little sarcastic.

However, the Big East was a little like an AAC conference, and we made out very well.

One of the scenarios we need will almost surely hit (Bama or OU or UVA losing), but I think Michigan probably jumps us unfortunately after they beat OSU. Now I don't think Michigan would beat OSU on a normal day, but OSU is apparently resting starters for the playoffs while Michigan will be at home in desperation mode.

In no universe is Ohio State resting players for Michigan, TrumpyCane wants to know where you heard that nonsense

OSU rest players against Rutgers

I think OSU is confident they get a top 4 seed even with a loss, and why risk championship-jeopardizing injuries for the difference between a 1 seed and a 3/4. Additionally Michigan making the playoff would be good for the conference and I am sure they are getting a little bit of pressure from the BIG to make it a bit easier on them. They aren't going to like throw the game or anything like that but if Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate aren't feeling 100% they aren't going to play them.

I don’t think you understand Ohio State football brother. They’ve lost to Michigan 4 years straight. The Game is bigger than their national championship. Even after they won it all last year the fans are still ****ed they haven’t beat Michigan. In no universe will they rest players agains U-M. Day will want to embarrass them and eliminate them from the tournament all together

So much money on the line. UM and its proxies should be on an absolute media/PR blitz. Buy ads, pay influencers, do what’s necessary to highlight the hypocrisy. Make the committee members as uncomfortable as possible. Politicians hate that. And that’s what they are, essentially.
