Small class sizes and a graduate assistant with a foot up their ***?**** our Admin! They handcuff us more than the NCAA "cloud" in terms of recruiting. You could make an All-Star squad comprised solely of Miami academic casualties. **** Marshall wouldn't even have a football team if it wasn't for our Admin.
i'd be more upset about academic casualties if they were going to big schools, but when they have to go to juco or marshall, that says that they probably wouldn't have qualified academically at those places either. plus, how can you expect someone with grades that bad to even stay eligible if they were enrolled?
possibly, but a lot of the professors don't budge on academic requirements at um. if the kid isn't smart enough to get into fsu or uf and has to go to juco or marshall, there's no way he'd be able to stay eligible at miami. you can only do so much to help. we're not a big state school that has the luxury of having huge worthless departments and no-show classes like unc, so the professors that the university hires are mostly top-notch (and/or foreign) and could care less for athletics, which is par for the course at the normal academic departments at most schools.
edit: that's not to say that there aren't bs classes here and there (because there are), but not enough to keep someone that dumb completely afloat.
