Still confused - so if the Powell and Yearby situations are similar, Powell could have gotten into class mere days after he originally scheduled (like Yearby)... So rather than wait a couple days, he changed schools entirely? Or was he worried that UM wouldn't sign off on his paperwork and he knew UF would?

I don't think Powell wanted to have any uncertainty. The class in question was cleared by UF so he knew he could get in there no problem.

Gotcha. What a weird way to handle that, especially as an EE...

He prob could have waited a week and then still enrolled at UF if his class wasn't cleared.

Pete what do you know about the whole DeAndre Mann situation?

personally i think powell had his ego hurt when they went hard after dalvin and never recovered.

That's what I'm thinking too. He'd been feeling like an afterthought given the buzz over Yearby and the push to get Cook. Then add in some delays on his admission and he panicked and ran.

plus the whole world knows regardless of the odds, the coaches are going to keep after Sony Michel until he puts pen to paper.

Tucker has no offer right now.

i think we are all confused as to why he is visiting...we are honest fans with zero insight...lolol

help us out Pete..giving the fact that we already have DE/LB specialist...lol

pete,

whats going on with lance mcdowell. i heard he gave teh staff his transcripts and is waiting to see if he is eligible before he makes a decision. i could be wrong but doesnt he play with Heurtelou?

Back up plan. Always good to have one at each position
Doesn't make sense. If this staff can pull a 4* LB/DE from Serra, you do it. Any kind of foot in the door at that school would be helpful, tons of talent there each year.

**** our Admin! They handcuff us more than the NCAA "cloud" in terms of recruiting. You could make an All-Star squad comprised solely of Miami academic casualties. **** Marshall wouldn't even have a football team if it wasn't for our Admin.

Except he'd be in right now if Al had done as good a job convincing him to wait as UF did convincing of him of the "urgency" of the situation. Not to mention, this began when Al Bondiga was flirting with PSU and went missing.

Not Pete, but Heurtelou played his HS ball in Spring Valley, NY, and McDowdell played in Mt Vernon, NY (about 30 minutes apart). McDowdell is attending CC in NY (Nassau CC), while Heurtelou is attending Scottsdale CC in Arizona.

i'd be more upset about academic casualties if they were going to big schools, but when they have to go to juco or marshall, that says that they probably wouldn't have qualified academically at those places either. plus, how can you expect someone with grades that bad to even stay eligible if they were enrolled?

I love how obvious it is to any rational thinker that Aldo Nova fcked this one up, yet the saps are willing to so easily bite on the nonsense misinformation being floated to the insider community that Powell was all Cane but he "panicked" because there was a delay in getting him in early.

If Al hadn't fckd things up in the first place, then Powell wouldn't have been looking for a reason to bolt. Pretty sure his contact with uf.aag started before he had a two day delay enrolling here. Did Powell somehow smell this delay coming before it happened? And if he did, then why would he go into a sudden panic? LULZ at the mental gymnastics people will perform to reach their wacky conclusions.

Agreed, I think it was a knee-jerk on Powells end. Wonder what the hurry was anyway? Sad we didn't get him but looks like he did it to himself.

Good work Pete. Feel little better about Moten now. Really sucks we lost Powell. He is a good kid.

That Powell story is infuriating.

Gotta think Golden must have flipped the **** out with the Admin department

I sure as **** hope he did! I understand the BS he pulled with PSU gave some kid cold feet and some began to look elsewhere...but that has nothing to do with admissions not having all their **** in one sock. He better crack some skulls up there!

Small class sizes and a graduate assistant with a foot up their ***?

I'm in the camp that says he was leaning away since the Gator offer and the nonsense with admissions is balony. The kid feels guilty and the delay is an easy target. He shouldn't feel guilty just man up and say I changed my mind. It happens especially with the recruiter the Gators has working South Fl. The Golden deal shook up the whole class. That happens too.

the kid was offended that we went after cook as hard as we did and he used the admissions delay to back out. those trying to blame golden have golden derangement syndrome.

Well he is in for a surprise because outside of us having Duke, UF's RBs are better. I guess he could play the slot there but he isn't getting on the field early there whatsoever.

yeah because yearby isnt any good. lol. i hope he never reads this board. powell=jacoby brissett part 2

Yeah cause I said anything about Yearby in that post.......
Duke is coming back from a major injury and after that our second most talented back will be Yearby. Gus is decent but nothing great and Crawford is well Crawford. Taylor, Brown and Matt Jones are all better than Crawford and Gus. They aren't Duke and outside of Taylor I would take Yearby overall over the other two hands down, but Yearby is gonna be just a true frosh and is undersized. I do agree with your comp though that Powell could end up being Brissett part 2 because I don't think he sees the field there for a minute, especially if they still land Jeff Jones.

**I’ve seen Olajuwon Tucker’s name being posted on the board due to the fact that he has a visit set up for the 24th, but as of right now he would not be able to commit to Miami. The situation could change in the coming weeks, but don’t be disappointed if he doesn’t flip to the Canes after his visit.

Pete,

Are you saying that if Tucker wants to commit Miami would not let him??? If so why not we need LB's

That is a kid that will play with his hand on the ground. He isn't a true LB. I guess he could play the Jack position but we already got those kids.

This is one of the rare occasions I happen to agree with you. This kid is a DE/OLB hybrid type, and the staff likes those, but we already have a bunch of these guys. Dont really see that he adds much. We need a true MLB type.

Makes complete sense. So now comes the million dollar question..Why are we bringing him in for a visit? Seems like a waste of time.

Couple things, first who sais that he even makes it down? It wouldn't be the first time a kid wanted to visit but the staff didn't want them to....
Second, God knows that we should have as many options open for pass rushers as possible. It's January and we have 26 committed and only so much room. Maybe the staff is counting on a couple of other kids to jump on board at other positions and want to hold off. I think the kid is a stud and we should take as many pass rushers as possible.....
