The U will never be back

Barnhart is a tool. $EC teams sell by bags of $$$$!! The stadium issue doesn't help our cause, though!

crappy play calling was the issue, not the stadium!!! We get good coaching we will win again. We have some of the most talented players in college football on our team!!!

He is right.

But not because of the stadium. We don't have an administration committed to winning football games.

This!

The thing holding us back is our lack of interest in being a super power. This administration has proven over and over it has no desire to be the old U.

I've lost count of how many recruits I've heard say, "I'm committing to so and so because they have a lot of fans in their stadium."

If we get Butch or Schiano we'd average 55K plus fans immediately. As soon as we start keeping our boys home and winning games Sun Life would be full. Barnhardt, ESPN, SEC and commentators know that the U had the stupidest administrators and won't do the most obvious things to become the prime time football powerhouse it could be. They know Miami could be a beast again, but laugh that we let a no coaching chump lead our program!

We will never be back until we have a coach and an admin who understands and embraces who it was that built "The U". The Jerome Browns, Frank Gores, the Michael Irvins. But we don't. You wanna win? Embrace the hunger. Embrace the savagery.

All we need is the right coach and we WILL be back.

Al doesn't seem to have that prickness in him that Jimmy had that we need right now.

This according to Tony Barnhart of the SEC network. Today on the John Feinstein show, Tony Barnhart sounded off on the FSU v. Miami football matchup. He was questioned as to why he thinks Al Golden has not been able to turn this program around since he was able to turn a depleted Temple program around. Tony responded by stating the U will never be back no matter how "good" of a coach we have in Al Golden for the simple fact that other programs can now come into our backyard, with confidence, poach kids and sell them on a winning tradition and playing in a....wait for it.....full stadium. He went on to say that Sun Life Stadium has been the true death of this program b/c kids see how empty and lifeless it is and it's turning them off no matter how much of a "fan" they may be.
Thoughts?

The SEC doesnt want Miami back. Miami is the key to the rise of the ACC.

******** in the late 90s were saying the same thing. They called the Orange a Bowl old and crappy.

Hopefully Al realizes he is sitting on a lottery ticket and decides to use the jaws and fangs on the defense....we have enough pieces.

I heard the same crap about us and FSU during the Tebow gag fest. And am sure they said the same back in the late 90s. Don't listen to these clowns, they know nothing about Miami. The city or the school. If that was the case Tennessee and Michigan would be number 1 and 2. We are located the closest to the most players, period. Win and they come. Simple

BTW ask ur self which teams could have been down as we were and under NCAA scrutiny and pull pull players like Duke and Chad Thomas etc. Which other school can do that with a coach with no accomplishments

The thing holding us back is our lack of interest in being a super power. This administration has proven over and over it has no desire to beat the old U.

Wouldn't that include updating our facilities including putting a concentrated effort in to getting our own stadium? We are not in the early to mid 80's anymore, or 90's or early 2000's. These kids, this society, is completely different now; we live in the "selfie era, where narcissism has reached an all-time high. Kids are more interested in making the big splash than just shutting up and playing good football. Now w/ ESPN and other media coverage, the me-first attitude, is magnified on a totally different scale. Kids now want to play in front of packed crowds. They want to be able to jump into the crowd and get praised. They want to hear their name as they scamper down the sideline or when they make that big hit, or get that all important int. SLS doesn't provide any of that. So yes, while we would get recruits regardless of attendance at the OB, that was then and this is now; and now, it's all about the hype and fan fare. We are falling behind EVERYONE when it comes to the modern game of recruiting. We use past history to bring in kids, and that's not cutting it. Think about it: Tulane, TCU, Baylor, UL...non-traditional powerhouses have their own stadium, but not u?? Bama, UF, FSU, Tenn, Texas, OU, LSU...they can all stake claim in our turf and show them Youtube clips of how raucous the crowds are there and compare that to how listless our home games are here. it makes a difference, especially if you're not winning.

South Florida talent always affords Miami a chance. As others stated, the same nonsense was being said before Miami had its championship runs . . . Orange Bowl is a dump, only draw crowds for big games, can't retain coaches, local kids want to spread their wings and go to Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State.
Is our coaching staff perfect? No. Roster and depth perfect? No. But fact is, the program isn't that far off. And that's why an impressive win on the bright stage against FSU is so huge.

LULZ at any baboon who thinks we've been losing games because of a fcking stadium. The stadium sucks, but it has as much to do with us losing as the polar vortex.

In fact, the only place we're winning games is at that fcking mausoleum. Aren't all the Folden puppets beating the 13-1 at home drum lately?
