I'll be watching this spot closely coming out of the bye week. They had their busiest game on Saturday (3 catches for Lofton, 3 for Bauman) and Lofton's acceleration looked closer to normal on that catch-and-run first down.

If we can get these guys healthy and timed up, it will add another dimension to what is already a pretty complete team.

My only worry there is health. On paper, he is the guy should benefit the most from the two bye weeks.
Agreed. Just busting balls of course. I said the same thing during the game “that’s the Lofton we need”

I wanted to post earlier that Bauman made me eat some crow. Beck clearly has confidence in him, and he made atleast one tough catch in traffic. Lofton last season made some real plays, he hasn't looked like the same player, but as D mentions, hopefully he's getting closer to healthy. D coordinator for FSU was less praising Miami's offense and mentioning that FSU was caught with bad eyes.....yes sir, but disregarding that as a "set up" by Dawson, is clearly BS. They spotted you guys pressing and looking into the backfield and ya got caught.

On the Lofton middle screen, that was THISCLOSE to being a massive play. We had 2 blockers in front, and the backer made a nice play to avoid one and hit Lofton before he could get rolling. I think it was Graham, I have to go back and watch again. But Lofton still broke it and got a few yards, it took about 4 guys to take him down but they slipped him down the line and if our lineman just gets half a hand on the backer there, Lofton is at full-speed in the middle of their defense with no one around. I'd have loved to have seen how he looked in the open field. Really close to a massive play, I hope we keep that one in the playbook. It was there, just a tiny bit better execution.

87 still looks as slow as an OL in the routes.

Gotta get the two freshmen more snaps.

We should try to get Bauman and Lofton the ball down the field. Bauman is slow, but he's wide open down the middle of the field a few times earlier this year. Not a huge fan of targeting Lofton deep down the middle of the field, but he has had some nice downfield catches on the corner routes before. Keep up the screen/swings to him as well. He will break one eventually.

I’m still holding out hope that Gilbert is developing and can become a weapon later in the year. Would love to have a 6’7” target to help out in the Red Zone and short yardage 3rd down conversions.

I don't know why each OL isn't running patterns and getting mutliple looks per game.

Jet sweeps and end around reverses.
