There is a reason PSU did not want Golden, and as far as anyone can tell, his phone isn't exactly ringing off the hook for job interviews by losing with Miami talent. Now, no one should be contacting recruits but the coaches. I agree with that. But these recruits see the hand writing on the wall. They sense, rightfully so, that Al is a dead man walking if he doesn't win BIG next year. These kids know that ain't happening. They know the new President will be smart enough at addition to know 1+1+1+1 does not equal first year coach. The real shame though is that if Shalala could add and made the change now, and brought Butch in or any other competent coach, there would be a recruiting buzz about Miami. 5 stars would be knocking on the doors to play for Butch, or someone of his ilk. And yes, if you are a major university that professes the ability to impart knowledge, you should know basic addition.

The problem is, the single largest piece of fan negativity pointed to by people claiming it had a major impact is Duke's mom's comments. The banners for awhile became the cloud, a ready made, but unquantifiable excuse for every failure of the coaching staff.

I am not a big fan of rooting to lose recruits but it does serve a purpose. Every year there is a boost hope from recruiting class regardless of the studs we don't get. Last year is perfect example. That helps get administration though another year of their goal of losing. Then the season hits and the reality of horrific coaching slaps us in the face. We start to build the pressure for change and start the process again. This year we need to keep the pressure on the BOT and administration up continuously without any let up. All the way through the presidential search, spring ball, and summer. No let up at all. We need to leave no stone unturned and hurt them in any way possible. This is our football program and they have destroyed it.
