I know the fans love to bash Rumph but Banda has been horrid for two seasons now.Ehh. Personally I've said for ever that he a horrible recruiter. But several of those boys could and should be very good. Sam in particular. The problem is he flat out had no clue how to develop anyone. These kids are coming here and staying as the same talent they came in with or in most instances are regressing as they pick up bad habits. The fact he is clueless on managing a roster doesn't help. None of our rooms beyond safety and oline even have enough position kids to properly establish them with training and practice. Our safeties play out of position often. But why would that be a shock. Anyone who doesn't realize gil would be a beast at free is blind.
Lol bruhWhat happened yesterday is about 47 levels deeper than linebacker play. Linebacker play is one of 927 SYMPTOMS of a greater problem.
Thread should be renamed "The Blake James and apathetic BOT" effect.
If those are the things you are focused on, after all these years.....well then the point is flying right over your head.Lol bruh
Terrible scheme
Zero adjustments to stop the 1 to 2 different run counter plays they used
And personal are the reason for yesterday
don’t try to make it anything more... coaches couldn’t get their head out of their asses to stop it... and the players (favorites Jennings and McCloud) just couldn’t make the plays as they kept taking themselves out of position
I mean **** herbie literally kept showing everyone on the NC highlights of our **** LBs tripping over themselves to not make the play
That’s by scheme design. You can tell our linebackers are horrid when our safety is always the leading tackler
This is fine and all but if it’s not this position it’s another! The years before that it was the Qb room and the special teams. Can we get a coach that believes every position should have the best player and not some project!!!Yesterday’s performance has its roots in the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes. In those two years, Manny signed four LBs that would hopefully succeed Shaq and Pinckney. None of them were blue-chip prospects. The fans questioned his approach, but Manny believed in his vision and his profile for a LB.
Here are our national ranks in yards per carry defense since 2015. The years without Shaq and Pinckney are in bold:
2015: 120th
2016: 22nd
2017: 20th
2018: 37th
2019: 10th
2020: 92nd
There are a lot of reasons for that humiliation on Saturday. But this is a good place to start.
Those things are getting “fixed” in this yearIf those are the things you are focused on, after all these years.....well then the point is flying right over your head.
Who recruited those players? Who coached the players that were recruited? Who hired the coach that recruited those players?
You are focusing on SYMPTOMS. Just stop. Direct your anger where it belongs. This is a pervasive problem.....and you're not arguing with me in regards to that topic, you'd be arguing with a thing called sample size.
Those things are getting “fixed” in this year
check out for the next 2/3 years if you know it’s a cluster from the very top down because it’s gonna be the same
don’t know what else to tell ya
Basically, LB EVALS have been awful. And Lb recruiting generally, including assessing the need, has been awful. Manny was lb corch when he was dc, iirc. he owns this. it’s pathetic because it has been so obvious to so many here for so long.Yesterday’s performance has its roots in the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes. The way we do things, they will be back next year starting because they are vets and deserve it.. Just like Corey Gaynor will continue to start because he already played.. Even tho his bar is extremely low and he plays fullback more than centerYes exactly we had no linebackers out there yesterday. The McCloud and Jennings era needed to end before the season started, now hopefully they can get an infusion of talent with the transfer from USC
