I was actually hoping we would miss that kick last night.
Am I wrong?

If we make that kick, the perception of the UVA game is completely different. They give the coaching staff credit for rallying the troops and completing a heroic comeback versus the mighty Virginia Cavaliers.
I don't think anyone is going to judge you for that. I wanted to win the game. The team is so bad, it won't find enough success this season to save anyone, but for the young players who are showing some effort and talent, I'd have liked enough success that some of them stick around for a better opportunity.
That said, I can't stand the way we lost, yes, we were unprepared and trying to rally from behind-- that's rinse and repeat-- but in the situation we found ourselves, I have seen coaches lose games for NOT putting it in the hands of their kicker, and I have seen coaches lose games FOR putting it in the hands of their kicker. Everything is circumstantial, but I can tell you which one I would have preferred. In that situation, you have to let the offense try and win you the game and build the confidence of the many. Instead, we pussed out.
