The only good news

I was actually hoping we would miss that kick last night.

Am I wrong?

If we make that kick, the perception of the UVA game is completely different. They give the coaching staff credit for rallying the troops and completing a heroic comeback versus the mighty Virginia Cavaliers.

I don't think anyone is going to judge you for that. I wanted to win the game. The team is so bad, it won't find enough success this season to save anyone, but for the young players who are showing some effort and talent, I'd have liked enough success that some of them stick around for a better opportunity.

That said, I can't stand the way we lost, yes, we were unprepared and trying to rally from behind-- that's rinse and repeat-- but in the situation we found ourselves, I have seen coaches lose games for NOT putting it in the hands of their kicker, and I have seen coaches lose games FOR putting it in the hands of their kicker. Everything is circumstantial, but I can tell you which one I would have preferred. In that situation, you have to let the offense try and win you the game and build the confidence of the many. Instead, we pussed out.

The UVA is prototypical Manny and his staff

Politics
The crowd last night looked like a [Politics = Infractions] rally! UM is losing big on parking, concessions and ticket sales. Let Ed Reed be the interim HC for the rest of the year and let's see what kind of energy he can pump into this weak team. Play all the freshman! 4-8 or 5-7 is my prediction. The next 3-4 games will be tough.

So? Sure Saban is the only person at an advanced anybody would throw a Brinks truck. Larranaga deserved an extension for losing to Loyala Chicago in the first round? What D1 program was going to hire him?
Bill Belichik is also 69. If your point is that Larranaga is no longer a good coach then I don’t disagree. It was your reference to his age that I have a problem with.

Here is what I have to say to this crowd - If Pedo State can recover from what they went through with Bill O’Brien and limited scholarships to rise before UM, it can be done here.

I know, I know - Penn State has massive resources & following, etc, but having a focus on rebuilding football & good coaching got the through with the message to recruits to help bring it back up & bring it honor.

One way to go - Alonzo, Torretta & Mario or Lane or whoever is competent coach with a great staff where the coach can be CEO like.
Of course. There are drawbacks to this job, but ain't nothing changing the fact it's in a hotbed for recruits. That's why so many of us are invested because we know it's doable. We don't even need a superstar. Even simple competence likely ensures 8+ wins/season. This is not a complicated rebuild.

Brothers...we're always just one coach away. Its been a long time...a real long time. But just one coach away. If he's good enough, he can defy the laws of physics in spite of a horrendous AD like Blake James and a laissez faire BoT. Unlikely these jabrones could ever identify that guy...but just one coach away.

As for last night...

You knew, deep down in your heart...that is exactly how it was going to play out. Manny don't have the chest, the coaching acumen, or the savvy to win that game.

I'd love to provide insight on the players and what we saw last night - especially Leonard Taylor...but none of it matters. Fire Manny and don't wait until the end of the season, don't wait until November..name a respected member of the staff interim head coach and then we can at least enjoy whats left of this season and just observe the young guys and appreciate the process. Anything else, and we once again, are ******* up.

An L to UNC should be the final nail in the coffin.

Because it requires a loss to UNC, things have not progressed.

It should be over. It isn’t.

The real problem is that while Manny is most assuredly dead man walking, it does not seem as though Blake is set to suffer the same fate. There has been zero smoke about it other than us shouting about it. Firing Manny alone does nothing. Feels like nothing will truly change.

Blake James boo’d at halftime, Fire Manny Diaz chants, the crowd was incredibly weak for a night game on Thursday. Must’ve been 15k there. All good things!

Problem is there is no video of any of that.

If a fan boos in a stadium and nobody is there to record it, did it really happen?

Let Blake fire Manny and then turn around and fire Blake right after. Savage move.

Savage would be if Frenk called Blake James into his office, told him not to bother with sitting down because the meeting will be quick, then staring him straight in the eye and saying, "Hey Blake, remember when I said I'd fire you last? I lied."
