The Ole Miss Thread

28-20 Miami.

I said the magic number for points last week was 24 and we needed at least 5 sacks.

We need to force at least 1 turnover, have 4 sacks, and limit them to only 1 explosive play. Similar to Ohio state.

Holding them to field goals vs touchdowns will be the difference.

Should we be doing something like this instead?

Wanna know wats funny, we ran that coverage against osu also.. lol.. Mentioned it in another post.. We are mixing coverages but when I listen to coaches especially in installation and they say they wanna keep simple and allow guys to hunt I think its just easier for all involved to spot drop and hopefully wit 2nd year in system we can evolve to guys squeezing routes and such, I just hate when guys are standing next to wr and have no idea but pass completed next to them, just pet peeve.. But overall I dont say much because who can complain about the results of our defense especially after last year, lol..

Also dont forget Hetherman was Cignettis DC for 3 years and he co-dc with haines, they have a ton of overlap and I am sure dna/system. We are just earlier in install and they have a few guys for multiple years which allows to know system and throw more at them..

I have one Debbie downer question- Why has Toney had so many issues with ball security this postseason? I’ve counted at least 3 fumbles/bobbles. Is he trying too hard to make a play or is it just the defenses being really good at punching the ball out? Undisclosed injury to hand? I expect he will get plenty of looks against Ole Miss and will have the football in his hands a lot.

Our offense is just such a bad match up for their D.

Their front is going to get clobbered by our big OL.
Their DBs look like the softest and weakest DBs I have seen this year. Our WRs are going to push them back 5-10 yards on every play.
Its not complicated is it. We need our OL and running game to eat here. If they wanna load the box, we got Dawson and the Air Raid ready to eat that secondary

5 fumbles in last 2 games (Toney 3, Beck 1, and Fletcher 1)

Caleb downs seemed to have a knack on putting his helmet in the right place. He did it three times last game. Was impressive.

Yeah needs to be cleaned up. But downs was a torpedo with a bullseye all three times on the ball. I don’t think they were expecting tha hard of hits the perfect area.

Ole Miss will have to be keying on stopping the run. They have the worst running defense of anyone Miami has faced. Running too much early on seems to keep teams in the game and Ole Miss is too explosive for that. I think it's time for Beck to earn his NIL.

We need to score a lot. I know everyone is thinking we just grind them down with our run game but we don’t want to be sitting on small lead going into the fourth. Anything less than 17 points would be worrying. They can score quickly and steal momentum. One holding call and we are probably punting back to them.

Ol Miss will be playing lights out - whatever exactly means that will manifest on the field - loose and fast.

That sand-lot football mentality - by a skilled, well coached team - those cause me a bit of discomfort.

They have nothing to lose - and there's no telling what we'll see! A Playoff team - with no Head Coach.

That's very possibly a rabid wolf.

I feel like going more pistol has helped Fletcher so much in the playoffs. Hopefully it keeps up against ole Miss. just feed that boy until they stop it. Some PA shots are there. Key is how many points can we hold Ole Miss to
