Isn’t Lake the first person to claim Gruden to Miami was a done deal?

One of the best few days way back when

Gruden was joining but would only sign a 2 year deal so the expectation was he would win two titles and then the hiccup was Jay Gruden must be named HCIW but UM balked at that. Then the staff was going to be all elite NFL coaches and Gruden was going to revolutionize UM facilities with the influx of cash. Team meeting was set for I believe 2pm.

So good.

Good times. Ha.

You said he should be in the "same tier as Martin and Coley"?

No - your exact words were: "He should be nothing more than a safety net if every other candidate tells Mario to go **** his own face."

Perhaps my reading comprehension is lacking? But your own words have him in a tier below every other candidate....literally.
I view all of those tier 5 candidates the same way. They should be last resorts.

Unfortunately I agree. It seems inevitable.
Probably going to end up with Arroyo as OC and Coley co/OC WR coach or something sorry like that
Oh you’re both doing this thing again. What a surprise.

When will people learn we don’t have the budget or expectations like it’s 2006 anymore.

Shut the f^ck up and expect better.

It's not even about having money or not. It's not about common sense. Posters like B*tchMode whined for weeks that Gattis wasn't getting fired, even though it was obvious he wasn't coming back. If there's a convenient, miserable narrative to run with, you know this guy is going to be all over it.

3 days from now, if/when the hire hasn't been made, he'll be right back with similar posts. It never fails.

if we get a solid OC will you stop posting for a month?
Define “solid”? Actually I’ll make it easy. If it’s anyone but Arroyo, Coley, or Martin I’ll take a 30 day self imposed ban. Edit: I would like to add Tommy Rees to my "anyone but" list. Let the record show that this edit was made on 1/31/23 before any hiring decision was made.

It’s not about the budget. It comes down to Mario and his philosophy. The SOTU article makes a pretty good case for why Mario likely will hire Arroyo even though he shouldn’t:

Some people are either conditioned to expect the worst (past 20 years will do that) or they actively root for the worst. Those two teeter on the side of the latter. Multiple comments quintupling down on their beliefs when nothing substantial has been discussed. One of them cited the WEZ and that’s all I needed to know. You might as well have cited pornhub comments for more credible information.

It’s pathetic. Grow up, Mario understands how important this OC hire is and he’s not going to rehire someone he didn’t hire in the first place. Think about our list of rumored candidates…

Frost, Ruggiero, Johns, Ludwig, Mullen, Kliff, Candle, Littrell, Coen, Brady, etc…how many of those are bro and pro style? I’m not saying there’s legs to any in particular, but you get a sense of who he’s looking at. People just throw Arroyo or Coley in there because “that’s what he did in the past”.

Well guess what, he’s changing **** up. Ever thought of that? Or are people’s feeble minded brains unable to comprehend that you can change philosophies if the former failed miserably?

I mean Jesús Christ do you guys live life going through doom and gloom like this? I feel sorry for you. Have some positivity. I don’t even care if people want to label this as a slurp piece, but his passion for the university is undeniable, we have a real AD with multiple distinguished football minds surrounding him, and a ****load of funding. Keep your mouths shut til the hire is made.

With that being said, if it’s Arroyo…sure, I’ll be in there with the raucous. But it won’t be.
