The new President will be Julio Frenk Mora

Why do we always get an "assistant" for President? Can't we get someone who has actually run a university, you know a actual president of a major university? Does the non-football part of Miami suck that bad that we have to take loser after loser who have been passed over by every other university before us? As bad as Al is, at least someone hired him as HC before us. Why do we get rookie presidents breaking their cherries?

You mean like Donna who was president of Wisconsin?

Kenneth Alan Shaw and Katharine Culbert Lyall where Presidents of UW System during Donna's term as Chancellor of UW Madison. She was president of a little university before that. So she was not "in charge" as a president might be but rather running one campus, a big one but a campus nonetheless.

By the way, her claim to fame at UW Madison was a couple of speech restrictive codes, one later ruled unconstitutional and the other abandoned after it's witch hunt nature became evident.(Just in case anyone thinks she is not behind the band on signs at basketball games). People like her support free speech only as it applies to themselves and those who agree with them.

It is a glorious that she is leaving but sad indeed that she is likely to be replace by one as bad or worse than her. We clearly need another amendment "separation of education and politics".

She ran a university....so she didn't run a state system. Not sure what that has to do with it. So your saying we should only hire people that have run entire states higher education systems? You're point was flawed, Donna met the criteria you were criticizing.

I'm not responsible for WI structure. She was chancellor of one campus, not President. Prior to the state restructure, WI Madison has "Presidents" not Chancellors. She was not president. You might make argument for equivalency, but they are not equal.

Good or a bad hire in the sense of athletics?

Harvard is very big on athletics they been tops among the ivy league for a long time.

Go Canes

They are trying to turn this school into Johns Hopkins, which essentially is a medical school and center with a small elite private university attached. JHU is great in lacrosse! Maybe we can have ONE good sports team eventually. Don't think it will be futbol...er..football, though. SMH

He's Mexican, so can we at least dominate baseball again?

Anyone not named Condoleezza is a mistake

Yeah, you're right... She was "Chancellor" of a school with 40k+ undergrads, a 2 billion endowment, and 20k employees...but she was just another assistant president. Jesus Christ dude, you made a stupid point. You are wrong. Get over it.

Btw, you're completely misrepresenting UW-Madison. It is a university by any definition.

From Wikipedia for your info:

UW–Madison is organized into 20 schools and colleges, which enrolled 29,504 undergraduate, 9,430 graduate, and 2,526 professional students and granted 6,494 bachelor's, 3,560 graduate and professional degrees in 2012-2013.[4] The University employs over 21,727 faculty and staff.[4] Its comprehensive academic program offers 132 undergraduate majors, along with 149 master's degree programs and 120 doctoral programs.[3]

FSU just made a political hire a few months ago.

This would be nothing more than a political hire! **** I'm tired of liberals!

Thank you for telling the unread labelers ! Our $1 Billion in medicare fraud governor first allowed the **** Koch brothers to take control of the FSU School of Business and eliminate free thinking from the curriculum, pushed out the former legislator (political) appointed President. To the protest of students they made a hand picked do boy fund raiser the president. Can't get any more political. Maybe you'd get excited if they narrowed the candidates to those high level thinkers like Rick Perry and Sarah Palin to lead us to football glory. Been in America too not to recognize the code words or intents of so called conservatives or religious right. I do share your desire for the BOT hire a more balanced President who shares the same intensity to make all facets including FOOTBALL a priority.

Four pages of nothing but assumptions based on whatever is floating in the space between people's ears. My lord, bunch of people talking out their asses about two men they know very little about, talk about lame.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling....

Is this your first time coming across sports message boards?

Yeap, there is no denying that is one big mother of a campus of which she was Chancellor. I am getting the impression that you like her. That can color your opinion. Perhaps my complete disdain of her has colored mine. She was a chancellor not a president; they use different titles for reasons. I am sure Donna would consider it a verbal hate crime to call her "chancellor" but it really isn't that bad a position.

There are things I like and many more I dislike about Donna, but that doesn't change the fact that she was exceedingly qualified to run the university with prior experience as the head of two schools. Your attempt to hide behind some ridiculous title semantics doesn't change the fact your premise of UM hiring underqualified candidates is completely false and laughable.
