The new President will be Julio Frenk Mora

I can't stand twitter, but an interesting addition to someone's follow list:
https://twitter.com/miamiradiobeast

I should have known when Royal Caribbean's Fain mentioned "International" candidates in one of his Presidential search missive's, the Admiral was looking chancy.

Ever look to see where Royal Caribbean sails to and from as part of thier cruise packages?

How about Acapulco, Cozumel, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Huatulco. Heck, in order NOT to have an American Flag ship (and as an extension, have to employ and pay Americans and American wages), their "Hawaiian" cruise leaves or terminates out of Ensenada, Mexico, resulting in plenty of sea days at the begining or end of a cruise (helps the booze sales too).

Yeah, looks like the fix may be in...

The Feast is actually less privy to inside info than DBC so don't put too much stock in that. He probably only started following Frenk after seeing his name appear here.

Whomever is named president is irrelevant to performance on the field. Hopefully it is frenk, dude has the financial backing and clout to further advance the medical agenda they pride themselves of. Health >>>>> sports.

Lol at posters actually pretending to care about what happens to the university besides sports

Btw, go look at the mess involving their medical agenda.

Why do people assume Frenk's friends will donate big money to UM? Did they donate big money to Harvard while he was there?

I don't see the connection between donating to your own charities and donating to a profit making venture like UM to which you have no affiliation.

UM's not for profits.....

UM's not for profits.....

All that means is that they have to show zero on the bottom line at the end of each year. That can easily be done by accelerating some debt payments. Paying a little more than their minimum yearly payment. Plenty of other ways they can show zero as well.

What are you talking about? Not for profit and annual net surplus have nothing to do with each other. UM can show a surplus (profit) and be a non profit. They don't have to show a zero bottom line. Baptist Health has 3 billion in the bank and is a non profit.

Admiral may be able to get some Defense contractor money, but being he might not have a lot of "Friends" in the DoD acquisition community, it wouldn't be much.

hope for the best, planning on the worst....... board seems to be as big of a problem as Donna

Good or a bad hire in the sense of athletics?

Harvard is very big on athletics they been tops among the ivy league for a long time.

Go Canes

They are trying to turn this school into Johns Hopkins, which essentially is a medical school and center with a small elite private university attached. JHU is great in lacrosse! Maybe we can have ONE good sports team eventually. Don't think it will be futbol...er..football, though. SMH

Another communist president.

Why Communist? Read his Bio and I'm certain he's not a communist, but a very educated man who "lead" the foundations with interest in helping others not creating a fear somebody wants to take away your guns.

Have you ever seen any foundation say it has interest in "hurting" others? There is a old saying, "if it looks like a duck, cracks like duck, walks like a duck, and is seen in the company of other ducks, then if must be a frigging duck!" Left wing statists come in numerous flavors: communist, fascists, Fabians, socialist, even blue blood republicans. They all have one thing in common thought, individuals are useless and the bigger the government the better. For us the important thing is our BOT can't seem to find one that gives a crap about FOOTBALL.

Why do we always get an "assistant" for President? Can't we get someone who has actually run a university, you know a actual president of a major university? Does the non-football part of Miami suck that bad that we have to take loser after loser who have been passed over by every other university before us? As bad as Al is, at least someone hired him as HC before us. Why do we get rookie presidents breaking their cherries?

The proper term is Marxist. Communism is a political party aka today's Democratic Party.

Amen to that, couldn't have said it better than you.
