alright, so what now?

Well, in talking to some folks in the know that I respect, while Manny may not be fired, what the 2010 loss to UVa was for Shannon, well, this is the beginning of the end for Diaz. I can live with that, but for the first time Im hearing that Blake James is now officially in the crosshairs. I can really live with that.

- for those proposing a youth movement(like I've suggested), the problem is this isn't like 97 where you had a coach in Butch Davis who had job security and legitimate reasons for being in that position. Manny will fight till the bitter end with certain upperclassmen it seems. I remember that stretch way back when and I was good with building towards the future (as I saw some kid name Santana Moss wear 48), here, there is no future

-Speaking of Manny, did anyone see the post-game video from Coach Hayes yesterday? He broke down perfectly the issues with Diaz's system and the coaching taking place, that leads to these weekly breakdowns in his unit. Big fan of the coach, taught me a lot about football and he's entertaining

- Watching UVA and UNC, I would bet dollars to donuts each team puts up around 550 yards and 40 points on us

- Knowing what I know about the current culture of UM football, Im going to watch (yeah, Im a glutton) to see which guys keep playing hard, or just pack it in. I can already guess which ones to be honest

- Someone at the game told me that the fans were ****ed like they have never seen before, a real anger. Lets see if that means anything.

- Finally, as for a new coach, if we bring in a guy that will run 'real' practices and act like a real leader, I would not be surprised to see more than a few guys leave because they can't hack it. Which is fine, lets run a modern day version of 'Junction Boys' if we have to. And there's a lot of speculation over who UM gets. Look, it may not be a marquee name, I can live with that. But we have to find the right guy for this program and city

Kinda like what Arkansas got with Sam Pittman. He wasn't a **** hire, nobody really knew who he was, but have you seen how improved the Razorbacks are and how hard they play? You can tell the players go all out for him. They just looked well coach in a lot of ways. And that city and fans seem to really like that guy. They got their coach, they nailed it.

So that's the thing, whoever is doing the hiring moving forward, has to find our Sam Pittman.

But just think about this, post-Butch Davis, literally every single one of our head coaches, really couldn't get another P5 head coaching job. That's telling.

Anyways, hope everyone has a great NFL Sunday

Who are your choices outside of Mario?

Brinks truck to Matt Campbell?
Jeff Hafley, Billy Napier, Mark Stoops, Kyle Whittingham just to name some. Mario will obviously be the top target bit if he says no thanks I wouldn't mind us inquiring about Kiffin or Schiano, two guys who are well regarded and good culture fits for the Miami pressure cooker.

What’s a “ modern day junction boys”? Taking the kids to Disney world and making them run ten yard sprints while shooting them with waters guns? Then allowing them to go on the rides after putting them through such a “rigorous workout” ?

Instead of Bear Bryant it’ll be “ Care Bryant”.

Nice write up and these coaches couldn’t get another P5 job cause they should never of had this one…

Mario would probably be my 1a because he's a proven head coach, elite recruiter, and played for us. But I really have no idea what type of coach will succeed here.

I don't give a **** about winning the presser, getting a miami guy, etc. I just want a guy who players play hard for. I want an exciting product. We might not ever win a title again but I want to be fun. We aren't fun anymore.

Curious who you think will pack it in/bounce if we start practicing hard.

Post mortem:

The victim was found dead lying face down in an open sewer at appx 3:34PM of 38 stab wounds and severe trauma about the head and shoulders delivered by blunt objects

It appears the victim knew his assailant and weakly tried to fight back

It will be a closed casket funeral

I would expect a number of kids to bail. Fine. It will likely impact the record 2022, but it would be a transition year.

Like many, a Mario hire is the focus for me. Otherwise, could be any number of candidates. I’m weary of Xs/Os gurus who when promoted to the big job blink in the spotlight. We think a magic playbook with ‘Miami athletes’ would kill. No, I don’t think so.

The program is rotten at the core and sparkly things are not going to fix it.

Steve, who is Coach Hayes?

Anyway, I think we are in like our Miami in the 70's, string of coaches, no fans falling apart etc, and then we brought in NFL guys Saban and Howard and they turned it around......

So as future coaches, we need a NFL guy, solid who has a staff to bring with him and can approach the game (now) as a business

One of our problems for 15 years, merry go round of assistants as failed head coaches try to keep their jobs..

Well, that's something that our current coach would do --- after all, for him its all about being cool and liked

Great question, Im not sure Campbell would consider us, but again, I'd inquire. He checks a lot of boxes for me

But again, this goes beyond just a head coach, or even the staff. The whole AD needs to be upgraded. And I firmly believe we need some real football guys in there (like a certain fullback that played for the U in the 80s', but Im not saying any names)
