the Michigan St post-mortem...

alright, so what now?

Well, in talking to some folks in the know that I respect, while Manny may not be fired, what the 2010 loss to UVa was for Shannon, well, this is the beginning of the end for Diaz. I can live with that, but for the first time Im hearing that Blake James is now officially in the crosshairs. I can really live with that.

- for those proposing a youth movement(like I've suggested), the problem is this isn't like 97 where you had a coach in Butch Davis who had job security and legitimate reasons for being in that position. Manny will fight till the bitter end with certain upperclassmen it seems. I remember that stretch way back when and I was good with building towards the future (as I saw some kid name Santana Moss wear 48), here, there is no future

-Speaking of Manny, did anyone see the post-game video from Coach Hayes yesterday? He broke down perfectly the issues with Diaz's system and the coaching taking place, that leads to these weekly breakdowns in his unit. Big fan of the coach, taught me a lot about football and he's entertaining

- Watching UVA and UNC, I would bet dollars to donuts each team puts up around 550 yards and 40 points on us

- Knowing what I know about the current culture of UM football, Im going to watch (yeah, Im a glutton) to see which guys keep playing hard, or just pack it in. I can already guess which ones to be honest

- Someone at the game told me that the fans were ****ed like they have never seen before, a real anger. Lets see if that means anything.

- Finally, as for a new coach, if we bring in a guy that will run 'real' practices and act like a real leader, I would not be surprised to see more than a few guys leave because they can't hack it. Which is fine, lets run a modern day version of 'Junction Boys' if we have to. And there's a lot of speculation over who UM gets. Look, it may not be a marquee name, I can live with that. But we have to find the right guy for this program and city

Kinda like what Arkansas got with Sam Pittman. He wasn't a **** hire, nobody really knew who he was, but have you seen how improved the Razorbacks are and how hard they play? You can tell the players go all out for him. They just looked well coach in a lot of ways. And that city and fans seem to really like that guy. They got their coach, they nailed it.

So that's the thing, whoever is doing the hiring moving forward, has to find our Sam Pittman.

But just think about this, post-Butch Davis, literally every single one of our head coaches, really couldn't get another P5 head coaching job. That's telling.

Anyways, hope everyone has a great NFL Sunday

-
If there's one thing for certain, when we hire anyone not named Cristobal, 70% of the fan base will hate it. (And a solid 30% would still hate the Cristobal hire)

Where do you live now? Ever attend any UK games? I'll be up for the Florida game. Would love to meet up and have a drink if you will be around.
I live in FL, now. Been here since 1989. Am planning on being there in October, just not sure when. Used to go to games all the time, when I lived there. My best friend's dad was retired police officer that traveled with team (and helped players get out of trouble). He would give us tickets. This was back in 1984 or 1985.

I don't like the comparison of the Shannon loss to UVA and this one for Manny. No. **** no. It took the school what, 3 more years to fire Shannon after that UVA loss? No F'n way will Diaz last that long at this rate. I'd say FIU was to Manny what UVA was to Randy. That leaves Manny much less time on the clock. The thought of having to stomach this BS for three more years makes me wish my neighbor's dog was still alive so I can kick it again.

Thomas, Im talking about the 2010 game where Jacory got blasted and knocked out of the game. By 2011, Al Golden was our coach. Just to clear up any confusion..

Whewwwww..... All I could think of was how many holes I'd have punched in my neighbor's fence by the end of the 2024 season. Thanks for the clarification.

Dude, I survived a day at the zoo with my wife and 5 kids. Better yet, they all survived as well. Simply being home and able to sit, relax, and vent means I am alive, and not in prison. It's a good Sunday.

need to overhaul the present AD group. we are failing badly B-Ball 71 year old Jim Langarra whose entire squad
left in off season. Baseball ha s been headed downhill over last 3-5 years as well. if Blake is the answer i would like to know the question ????AD first, then HC

How's the boat coming along?

I am from Ky, now living in FL, family still lives there. From Kentucky Sports Radio article, headline : "Kentucky Football continues to rise in AP/Coaches Poll"
He has taken the UK program from bottom of SEC to winning bowl games. Why would he go to Miami and have to rebuild again?
Miami's ceiling is about 10 times higher

Yes, I am serious. Some of you all think coaches are watching their phones for the call come to Miami. Listen to Will Manso's podcast. So much needs to be done to facilities to begin to make this program attractive to coaches and players. It may take 8 to 10 years (took Butch about 8) to rebuild program. Times have changed. Miami will never win another championship. Miami cannot compete with programs as Alabama, Clemson, etc. Take off your orange and green glasses. This will not be a quick turnaround.
What happened to the middle finger emoji?

Wasn't the 45-17 home loss to FSU the end of Shannon? Only to be confirmed by the season ending home loss to USF?

My wish from the program:

Win the ACC Coastal far more often than not
Win the ACC on the regular
Be in the conversation for the NC
Enjoy runs when the team has a special QB/other players putting the team over the top
These are fairly reasonable goals but the current administration have made them into unachievable fan
Stoops has done a good job at KY. Unless you're completely unrealistic, he's likely hit the ceiling on KY's football potential. They will never be a perennial powerhouse in the SEC. Too many storied programs way ahead of them. He's in a dead end job.

Miami offers Stoops the chance to win it all and cement his legacy as a coach. Plus, who in their right mind would rather live in KY than Miami?
living in Miami is highly overrated once u get past like ur mid 30s IMO. And I’ve lived hear for half my life🤷🏾‍♂️. Most of these coaches are middle aged married men which means most of the pros of living they can’t enjoy at least publicly 😂

We had everything to play for when playing UVA. Good team and the season was laying out for a division (I believe) title. Then we blew it against UVA and everyone including the AD knew that was the end.

The USF game only stamped it.

Interesting fact I went to every game home and away in 2010. UVA fumbled the ball while running out the clock and we almost recovered and would have probably won the game because it was on their 30.

Also my seat were right below the presidents box at Hard Rock and during the USF game I watched Kirby (AD) walk in and sit beside Shalala and have a very intense conversation in the front row while other staff prevented anyone else from getting around them. I knew then Shannon was gone.
